Fuzzylogic 2nd Gear November 16, 2004 Share November 16, 2004 Hi Guys, I just got the HKS Power Filter for my drive but it did not state how long the filter can last on the box. According to the guy at the shop, he said it's able to last 30k-40k mileage. Is that accurate? Can this filter be washed with water when I want to clean it? ↡ Advertisement
Sapience Clutched November 18, 2004 Share November 18, 2004 is this is the same as my K&N then you probably need some kind of cleaning kit. anyway when it's time to wash it, i'd probably get a new one, like almost 2 years...
Tanzy Clutched November 18, 2004 Share November 18, 2004 (edited) You should probably be asking how long your MAF and throttle valve will last. Check out this test http://mkiv.com/techarticles/filters_test/2/ It compares, Apex'i, HKS, Blitz and K&N air filters. HKS rank as pathetic in filtering stuff. Jamesinc Neutral Newbie November 19, 2004 Share November 19, 2004 I think fair enough to say after 60k throw away. The properties may not be as good as new and after many washing etc, there will be wear and tear. Less powerful as before. Anyway, change a new one will also give you better fuel economy and power. Cost-benefit is better?
GDIzen Neutral Newbie November 19, 2004 Share November 19, 2004 You are not supposed to wash yr HKS filter! ↡ Advertisement
