Saaber Neutral Newbie December 27, 2002 Share December 27, 2002 Race Technology AC-22 automotive performance meter The AC-22 performance meter is a small self-contained unit (about the size of a packet of cigarettes), that can accurately measure your car's performance, without needing any connections to the car. The unit can be used immediately - simply place it on a convenient surface (e.g. the dashboard), select the option you require from the easy to use menu system and you are ready to start measuring your cars performance. What can the AC-22 measure? The AC-22 is able to accurately: Time the acceleration between any two speeds (e.g. 0-60mph, 0-100mph) Measure the time to do a quarter mile run Measure braking time and distance Measure the car's power at the wheels Display the cornering or accelerating g-force Indicate how near you are to losing grip The performance meter can be set-up to use either metric or imperial units, whichever you prefer. How does it work? The AC-22 uses a pair of the very latest micro-machined accelerometers, these calculate the car's acceleration by measuring how much a tiny weight moves on a silicon chip. The accelerometers are measuring the same force that pushes you back in the seat when you pull away. The accelerations are measured 100 times every second by a micro-processor which can then calculate the car's speed, distance, and power. Why do I need an AC-22? The AC-22 has many fun and serious applications including: Checking your engine is running correctly Testing different tyre and suspension set-ups Comparing your car's acceleration times with the official figures Comparing the performance of your car with that of your friends Testing engine performance modifications Testing the performance of your brakes How accurate is it? From our tests on the drag strip, the AC-22 is accurate to within 1/10th of a second for a quarter mile run and 1/20th of a second for 0 to 60 mph straight out of the box! Once it has been set-up for your car, measurements are normally within a few 1/100ths of a second . Saaber Neutral Newbie December 27, 2002 Author Share December 27, 2002 There are no dealer/reseller in Singapore, but you can buy it online. So far, the cheapest is from here (us$220 inclusive of shipping) : http://www.cb-racing.com/rt-ac-22.htm If can get a group buy, maybe can push the price lower..... Turbobrick Neutral Newbie December 31, 2002 Share December 31, 2002 Hi Eddie, I tried this before, it didn't have proper mounting so hard to keep it on the dash when launching. Tried it again on my friend's EVO 7, dumb ass thing flew to the back seat once the clutch was dropped at 5k rpm Gtech better IMHO
Saaber Neutral Newbie December 31, 2002 Author Share December 31, 2002 Got to use good Double side tape to hold it down.....
Seansene 1st Gear December 31, 2002 Share December 31, 2002 From the looks of it, you shouldn't just place it on any surface, it should prferably be horizontal, otherwise some of the accelerative force will be resolved in a vertical plane, which renders the unit inaccurate. Also, TB is correct in that securely attaching the unit is vital to getting correct readings. Once these two factors are taken care of, there shouldn't be any problem. Madarmour Neutral Newbie December 31, 2002 Share December 31, 2002 Need to use 3M tape?
Turbobrick Neutral Newbie December 31, 2002 Share December 31, 2002 Double sided tape? Nah, this device had to be moved from car to car, how can secure it so tightly? That's why Gtech although simple has minor details like this all figured out.
