9650 vs 8650

can anyone who tried these 2 let me in on their pros and cons?

Are they the same in terms of function and power?

Heard from one of the shops that some people have problems with the sliding face mechanism of the 9650.

Also, the cheapest quote for export sets and installation?

i was in the same shoes as u...can't decide between 9650 and 8650. If u look at the specs...everything inside out is the same...except the sliding mechanism. I paid extra for the 9650. Kinda of silly...but wow factor is there. My take, 8650. Feeling rich or juz struck 4D? 9650! haa...so far i haven't had any problems with the mechanism yet...touchwood. Mine is a local set with warranty. The auto EQ is good, though i havent tinkered with time alignment yet.

Anyway, i have not played with both sets before...but i understand that for 8650, the sliding face only slides open if u wanna load a cd.

The 9650 will close up on power down and auto slide open on power up?

 

So how much did u pay for the local set and when was that?

includes installation?

 

anyway for local set, what is the length of warranty? if it is only 1 yr, i rather go for the export set....

this is just an option. Both sets can do that.

 

Warranty length is 1 year. It is a gamble, if you ask me. For export sets, all repairs is x3 of those of local set.

 

if you r installing this HU, i really suggest you get it tuned for its TA. this set can do wonders with its TA, 13 band EQ and D/A. Best coupled with full ICE.

yup u can set the 9650 to open or close the face plate whenever u start engine. for 8650, i'm too sure, but i played with it, it will swing down when u wan to insert or eject a disc.

 

Mine, i got it for undisclosable special price. Yes, local warranty for a yr. But i once heard frm installer, pioneer export sets are generally ok....but well see if u wanna take the risk, since now repair cost for export set is three times.

can try clarion 956. With harddisc. 24bit and time aligment.

Good looking and nice sound. Now very cheap.with warranty .

I feel like gettin the 9650. Thinkin of a export set, anyone willing to disclose wats the price of a 9650 export set roughly be? I know of shops selling export sets at sim lim but do they do installation? If not, I got to buy but get other shops outside to install. Will shops be unhappy about not gettin eqipment from em but wanting em to install only?

Just add one hundred dollar to 8650, price quoted by SLT shop.

There are one man show installer out there, just ask the shop to recommend, cheap and good.

 

My present setup by one man show installer at Hillview area, recommended by the SLT shop.

My setup is a all rockford items only. Don't ask me why, I just like rockford after visiting their web site and forum.

hi i just bought the 9650 cos 8650 whole spore cannot find...sq's quite good, much better than my old 7650...bought for $640 after GST...if u interested i can pm u the shop...think not very convenient to post online...it's nowhere near sim lim...:)
