Any advice on the situation below I am on a maxonline contract till Jan 08 Currently i am paying $70 Plus dollars for a premium 12mbps plan the thing is i was told that after my contract ends my price will go up to $80 plus dollars ! what's really ridiculous about this is that new customers are now paying $65 and me being a long time customer of starhub (10 years) have to pay more - this really takes the cake. the only way for me to enjoy a lower price is to take up the laptop promotion and pay $65 a month and get bonded to a 2 year contract. the thing is firstly i do not wish to be bound down by a contract. secondly i already have 3 laptops and 2 desktops (some which are relatively new and more branded than the compaq ones being offered) at home and do not need any more computers at home which will probably end up as a white elephant - nothing worse for tech equipment to end up as white elephants due to the fast depreciating nature of such items. if i opt to recontract and sell the laptop - noting the abundance of sellers of this laptop model i doubt that i will even get a good or fair price which means i am better off keeping the white elephant anyway. i have asked the customer service if there is an option to lower my subscription price to that of $65 after the end of my contract - the answer was - impossible. seems like starhub is trying to force its customers to sign contracts. anyone with experience on what happens after your MOL contract ends and etc care to share how i can approach this to get an equitable consumer deal. I do not wish to pay $299 and be bound to a contract for 2 years just to enjoy equitable pricing. to make things worse - i know i can t compare but we are still having one of the highest broadband prices in the region - despite singapore being a technology hub - in malaysia a similar plan costs RM 80 and in hk and korea you can get unlimited broadband for $20 plus SGD. the only plan starhub has in this price range is the 1 mbps plan but judging from how shitty the connection is at times on maxonline premium 12 mbps, i suspect the 1 mbps plan will be a disaster. help anyone.
