  1. Being anywhere tangentially close to current affairs news right now is deeply depressing. In so many ways, the world seems like it's going to s*it. In a bid to escape all that and cheer myself up a little, I've been recently amused and moderately infatuated with randomly huge things. Here are just a couple that make me chuckle: Yup, the world's largest chair. I also find the name of the company, XXXLutz, incredibly funny and more than a little blue. Otto the otter. Not a particularly imaginative name, I must say. Albert the bull. Actually kinda cute (gives off a little Minecraft vibe). This one is particularly interesting. It's an office building designed to look like the basket, and is in fact a scaled up replica of the Longaberger Company's signature Medium Market Basket. Unfortunately the company is now defunct. All these things are completely bizarre, I know. But after spending an hour looking at a live flight path map of the Middle East and being worried because I have an upcoming flight transiting through Dubai, at least these randomly huge things can momentarily take my mind of missiles flying through the sky.
