Sony WX7700MDX

Hi All,

 

Don't really know much about audio therefore need some advice on the HU of SONY WX7700MDX. Need to know whether this is a good HU in term of sound quality as compared to my current HU Alpine CDM 7874RB. Also if supposed i am changing it to the SONY HU do i need to change my current CD changer and speaker to SONY as well.

Changers only work with HU of the same brand. As for speakers, it's more of a personal preference. IMO, Alpine sounds better to me than Sony.

Not familiar with the Sony model you mentioned,

Gotta do some homework first.

 

Just remember that you gotta compare different brands at the same price range.

 

Other thing, is that Changers and HU need to be same brand.

thanks for the welcome. btw has just added a Alpine MRP-240 amp and upgraded my speaker to type-r component for the front and type-r coaxial for the centre. I believe both are 5 1/4 inch. Sound really improve alot. However notice something is that after i have blasted it, the front speaker becomes softer when i turn back to normal. Is this normal. Or does the amp have some setting for me to set. Now i notice that the the centre seat has a better sound quality than the front seat. Please advise.

 

I guess i will drop the idea of the 7700 at this moment of time as i think the price is too steep for the look.

I just traded in my 7700 for a Pioneer 9450 and I can tell you the Pioneer sounds miles better than the Sony!

Glad that i dropped the idea of the 7700. I actually got Alpine9815. Me also upgraded my 4ch amps to a 5ch amps with the addition of a box 8" box woofer. Currently, is looking out for future upgrades. Maybe cable will be next. Anyway still pretty new to this ICE stuff.

 

btw how much did u trade in for your 7700.

Indeed, pioneer HU are far better than Sony, wah what makes

you change from Double din quite chio 7700 to 9450 ?

 

I am getting 9450 also, cos got DSP , 3 preouts...motorised front

panel, chio dot display, except quite pricy !

 

But 7700 more ex...than 9450 !

In fact, i have got myself a Alpine 9815. Very nice HU with lots of features to play around with. But still trying to figure out on that as still new to ICE. Anyway no regrets on the 9815.

Alpine 9815 can play both MP3 and WMA.
