Nauticar Neutral Newbie September 23, 2005 Share September 23, 2005 What was usually in the engine before the 'unintentional' change?

Crv2004 Clutched September 23, 2005 Share September 23, 2005 I think that it is too thick for new car
Trinitronics Neutral Newbie September 23, 2005 Share September 23, 2005 Ah? I go JB service, the guy ask me what brand i want... I told him Mobil & he straight away open up and start to pour in... What's effect will happen ah if its too thick?
Crv2004 Clutched September 23, 2005 Share September 23, 2005 Too thick will result in pooer fuel consumption and more sluggish
Trinitronics Neutral Newbie September 23, 2005 Share September 23, 2005 Oh how man... No wonder i find my fuel consumption is no better than my previous ride.. Just slightly better abit... Coz my previous ride was a sunny which drinks petrol
Nauticar Neutral Newbie September 23, 2005 Share September 23, 2005 Effect? In your case, probably you'll see sluggish performance, increased FC, because the weight of the oil is a bit thick. What does your car manual recommend? I do my changes in JB, but I will scout for places that sell the engine oil that I want. If I had car ramps I'd do my own engine oil changes myself, its very very easy.
Nauticar Neutral Newbie September 23, 2005 Share September 23, 2005 Hmm....my friends new Sunny (bought last year) also drink petrol. It's a 1.6, I drive a 1.8 but his car has worse FC than mine.
Lotus4712 Neutral Newbie September 23, 2005 Share September 23, 2005 For your next service if u using own oil, I strongly recommend BMW 0W-40 Longlife oil. Made in Germany. Simply the best ! As u know car technology and product Germany is still the leader in terms of innovation and premier quality. Cost abt $18/ltr excl GST. But really really gd stuff. Just give it a try next time. This oil can easily last up to 20,000 km and beyond. But if u want to change at 10,000km it is up to u. After 10,000km, oil is still golden and engine is still very smooth and responsive. FC is still as gd as when oil is new. I hv used it few rds already and after trying out other cheaper oils from time to time, I am nw convinced and will stick to it! No regrets man. Nauticar Neutral Newbie September 23, 2005 Share September 23, 2005 (edited) BMW Longlife? Where did you get that? Also, does it come in other viscosity ratings? 18 bucks per lit is kinda steep though.... Edited September 23, 2005 by Nauticar
Lotus4712 Neutral Newbie September 23, 2005 Share September 23, 2005 Also hv BMW 5W-40. But with their 5W-40 after 7-8000km, engine pick up nt as gd as when oil is new, feel heavy going especially up slope. But with BMW 0W-40, no prob. Yes it may cost more than other promo ard but is still less than what they charge at petrol kiosks for top oil like Mobil 1, Shell Helix Ultra etc. Is a matter of what matters most to u. Value for money or cost saving ? Or performance ? If u r talking of gd stuff, ie u dun mind paying more for better oil than this is the one. Cost even less than Amsoil! There is no worry abt the quality of this oil for first time user. Just cost u more than ur usual oil but this only have to happen once if after that u decide to revert to your usual stuff. Right? Btw I hv no vested interest in this oil. Im just a convinced user wanting 2 share.
Lotus4712 Neutral Newbie September 23, 2005 Share September 23, 2005 What r u thinking? This is a German oil, mind u !
Lotus4712 Neutral Newbie September 23, 2005 Share September 23, 2005 I hv tried Mobil 1 OW-40 (API - latest SM). There is a difference. The BMW 0w-40 is still better.
Lotus4712 Neutral Newbie September 23, 2005 Share September 23, 2005 Btw what oil u using nw ? What is ur current fc like on ur 1.8 l car ? Hw old is ur car ? ↡ Advertisement
