Saaber Neutral Newbie February 7, 2003 Share February 7, 2003 Someone gave me an offer to do one to one swop my 17" BBS RK2with Kumho 712 with his 18" Speedline with S-O3....... Is it worth it? ↡ Advertisement
Saabss Neutral Newbie February 7, 2003 Share February 7, 2003 Worth or not depends on whether you like the speedline rim
Mel4fun Neutral Newbie February 7, 2003 Share February 7, 2003 Visually, 18" would look good on your 95... BUT your BBS RK2 looks and worth more than the 18" Speedline.... IMHO , no go.. Unless he is gonna give you the 18" BBS RK2
Saaber Neutral Newbie February 7, 2003 Author Share February 7, 2003 But the 18" Speedline rim is so much lighter than my 17" BBS...
Magfocus 5th Gear February 7, 2003 Share February 7, 2003 I feel that your BBS wheels are so much nicer than the 18" Speedlines Stick to it lah
Saabss Neutral Newbie February 7, 2003 Share February 7, 2003 Actually I'll advise you to take the offer, since the rim came with S-03 tyres, take it as a trade off.
Seansene 1st Gear February 7, 2003 Share February 7, 2003 Yeah, the weight is something worth considering. Why does he want to trade anyway?
Saaber Neutral Newbie February 7, 2003 Author Share February 7, 2003 He find the ride too firm with the 18"...
Seansene 1st Gear February 7, 2003 Share February 7, 2003 So do you think you'll find it a problem too?
Saaber Neutral Newbie February 7, 2003 Author Share February 7, 2003 I'm ok with firm ride......my only worry is that the rim might be too wide for my car as my present one does scrap the wall on very hard cornering..... Anyway, tomorrow I'll trying out the 18" on my car for look check and handling check first before making a decision......
Seansene 1st Gear February 7, 2003 Share February 7, 2003 Yeah, best to try before you buy

Phalanx Neutral Newbie February 7, 2003 Share February 7, 2003 Aiyoh...seriously...BBS has more street cred lah! The speedline looks common, plus not that good looking in the first place granted it is 18". Please, stick to BBS man...
Saaber Neutral Newbie February 7, 2003 Author Share February 7, 2003 Point noted....
Blueice Neutral Newbie February 7, 2003 Share February 7, 2003 well styles aside, there are advantages of the offer: 1. the 18s are lighter as you mentioned 2. better handling with larger wheels, and hence larger contact patch. 3. so3 are a better tyre (you got to see how worn is yours compared to these) point 1 is enough to prove the point. with a lesser unsprung mass you get better acceleration/braking, handling, fuel economy (though wider tyres might offset this a little). and importantly check the offset, wrong offset causes wheel scrape. as for the design style its subjective. i personally dont think the speedlines are that bad. Saaber Neutral Newbie February 7, 2003 Author Share February 7, 2003 Thanks,....points noted too....
Assassin Clutched February 7, 2003 Share February 7, 2003 Personally, assuming everything else is the same...(ie. rims/tyres same age/mileage on them, PCD/offset etc are correct) I would go for 18" BBS with S-03. But you'll have to consider fuel consumption and ride comfort. In this case, I would stick with the 17" BBS. The only advantage the Speedline has is it is lighter in weight.
