Anyway, Proton's reliability doesn't impress me... As with any car nut, any new family car launch, I'll be there to take a peek at it... Regardless I like it or not, for the sake of interest... Heartbreakid 6th Gear March 5, 2006 Author Share March 5, 2006 (edited) Yep,mine WIRA is '96, using Mitsubishi ECU, Engine Wise everything is good till now, of course wore parts are replaced, just that when the car was new already got power windows problem, A/C blowing warm air due to a loose connection of the A/C fan... These are minor problems but good enough to dampen the spirit of a new car... The rest few yrs down the road, boot leakages... Latest batch WIRA all uses Siemens ECU, the intake manifold is different from my WIRA too...Heard is not good compared to Mit. ECU WIRA... Basically, what I was saying previous post "Not impressed with reliability" is, I'm referring to newer Protons like WAJA, Gen2 (in terms of fittings, and quality of parts)... Heartbreakid 6th Gear March 8, 2006 Author Share March 8, 2006 Emmm, I'm not sure man, becos I ones drove a '96 Corolla Tourer 1.6XLi (Estate) model before, it's a pretty neglected unit, more care (in terms of polishing, maintenance) has been given to the WIRA, but the corolla doesn't seem to give me much problems as compared to the WIRA when both cars are new, except the Corolla's high fuel consumption... I agree that cars nowadays build quality is a bit unreliable as compared to '90s... But because I've got 2 cars in comparison previously, I come to draw such conclusion to the WIRA... Heartbreakid 6th Gear March 8, 2006 Author Share March 8, 2006 Oh yah, I didn't noticed the leakage until one fine I decided to pump air for the spare tyre, the level was abt 1 cm deep!! It took me sometime to pin-point the problem and realised it wasn't the boot seal problem, when the seal was removed, I found out that the there's gap between two welded parts, so I uses sillicon to seal up the gap and solves the problem!!
