Satinepink Neutral Newbie March 29, 2006 Share March 29, 2006 I have a problem guys. Yes, I've changed my drive shaft. Yes, they are brand new. However, when I do a full lock, the seems to be a metal-on-metal grinding sound. This problem existed before I changed my shafts. I figured the inside of my rims was scraping the arm but checked with the alignment guys and that's not the case. They can't figure it out as well...neither can the workshop... ↡ Advertisement

Genie47 1st Gear March 30, 2006 Share March 30, 2006 Something to do with the rim spacing from the hub. Starlet is +33 usually.

Eugene1 Neutral Newbie April 5, 2006 Share April 5, 2006 Just checked, i was previously using corolla rims with offset +43-45 i think, so i guess spacers wouldn't have helped.Starlet rims offset should be around +33 right?

Vicnaidu Neutral Newbie April 30, 2006 Share April 30, 2006 do u get this grinding sound when u turn really slowly or when u turn fast?? i get the sound when i turn fast and found tat the fault aint really a fault bro.. its actualli the heat shield of the brake disk rubbing the disk itself.. at the 6O'clock position of the disk.. u go check..
Genie47 1st Gear May 1, 2006 Share May 1, 2006 Nothing to do with the heat shield on the brakes. It is the offset. Hard turn = weight transfer to the outside. With harder braking plus turn, the weight transfer is more. The inner side of the rim starts to rub onto the lower arm.
