Liu38 Neutral Newbie February 24, 2003 Share February 24, 2003 AMSOIL recommends "25,000-mile or one-year drain interval". Has anyone tried it? ↡ Advertisement
Turbobrick Neutral Newbie February 26, 2003 Share February 26, 2003 Note that AMSOIL has warranty backing that claim but that's only in the US market. I suggest that if 15k kms is the furthest the oil should be stretched in Singapore's hot and start-stop driving conditions.
Leonknapp Clutched February 28, 2003 Share February 28, 2003 how bout the series 2000? can stretch to 30000km? anyway jus wondering wat is the diff between the series 2000 and the 5W-30 oil? thanx!
Turbobrick Neutral Newbie February 28, 2003 Share February 28, 2003 The series 2000 oil provides the highest wear protection in the AMSOIL oil range and also has a high Viscosity index of 196, this means it has high resistence to thermal breakdown and shear wear. The standard 5W-30 has a high VI of 186 too, much higher compared to the leading brands of syn oils. In reality, as long the oil passes the oil analysis test, it can still be used in the engine. Too bad there's no such end-user oil analysis service in sillypore, only for commercial services like shipping or fleet. I would recommend no more than 20k km or 1year of leaving the oil in your engine. Do keep in mind that the oil filter is still best changed every 5k km. Leonknapp Clutched March 1, 2003 Share March 1, 2003 but wont i risk losing oil by changing the oil filter? does that mean i need to get 1 extra litre of oil to keep for topping up? also would it be ok to top up with the 5W-30 oil? series 2000 is expensive! Turbobrick Neutral Newbie March 3, 2003 Share March 3, 2003 The oil filter holds up to 1/2 litre the most, topping up with 5W-30 is possible. Of course topping up with same oil better lah I did this the last time, topped up with S2000 oil from my remainder as my brick drank 5.5litres during oil change so got almost 1/2 litre of the S2000 left for oil filter change ↡ Advertisement
