Ford Fiesta, Aveo or Swift?

Hi,

I am thinking of changing my current ride which is a 1.4L Opel Corsa.

I have tested the Suzuki Swift, new Chevrolet Aveo Sedan and the Ford Fiesta. I like the Ford for its more rigid body and more powerful drive. But its does look small for a 1.6L and the interior can defintely be improved. The Suzuki falls into my consideration because of its price and I like the Aveo's look. I am looking at cars not more than about $55K. Does anyone own a Fiesta and can offer some 2 cents worth?

Thanx! Much appreciated!

For me, the choice would be Fiesta. I too have tested all the 3 makes which you mentioned. I like fiesta for its more responsive engine as well as the better handling. Price wise, its only a few K more than Swift. As for Swift, I find the engine very refined, but one thing I dun like is that there is this 'floating feeling' once I reach a higher speed e.g 110km/h and above. Another minus point is the boot which is extremely small. For Aveo, I like its design. But that's about it. Not too bad but only average in most aspects and its FC is highest among the 3 makes. But of cos, price wise its the cheapest. However, got to take into account its OMV.

Overall I will still take Fiesta. But it really depends what you are looking for.

I agree with Zoom99.

Though the fiesta being a euro ford would be a closer match to the corsa in build than the aveo (being korean built but i may be wrong but the fiesta was designed in germany with a german made engine and g/box- not sure if its made in europe, but i'm sure at the worst they're made in mexico like my previous ford Ka).

I also prefer the sound of the door closing for the fiesta than the aveo and swift. But I prefer the blackish-grey interior dash colour and steering wheel look of the swift, though its plastics look cheaper than the fiestas greyish.

The Aveo IMHO has the best looking door trims, but the ugliest dash with the cheapest looking plastic of the 3.

The Fiesta has the sportiest looking dash but the steering wheel and greyish colour spoil it.

The swift has a v. similar dash to the fiesta though a lil less sporty but its colour and steering wheel make up for it. Now they really need to change the plastic used to something a lil better which would make it even better than ALL the other jap interiors bar the colt.

Exterior wise i love the aveo the most (mine is slighlty different as i'm looking at the new holden barina which has a slightly different front. Cant decide between the fiesta and swift as i prefer the front of the swift but the rear of the fiesta over each other. side profile wise, if you like flowing shapes the fiesta is better but if you prefer a lil boxiness the swift is better.

I've driven the fiesta and the swift (1.5l swift)... the fiesta is definately much better in the handling dept, and it has roughly the same amount of power but abt 15% more torque (which IMHO should be the main consideration of sg drivers). The fiestas engine seems a lil less refined than the swifts at lower speeds but more refined at speeds at 80kms and up. I felt the gear changes on the fiesta were much better than the swifts and the torque difference was definately felt when taking off from the lights.

IMHO, they are all good cars, but in sg the fiesta is severly underated.

If it was me choosing in sg, i would go for the 1.4l fiesta ASM (clutchless manual with auto gearchanges if you like- much better than the stupid box in my moms corsa) as its even more economical than the 1.6, but still has 1nm more torquey than the 1.5 swift. Its got tons of useable cubby holes which i love.

Next would be the aveo as its just slightly less torque than the fiesta (and still much more than the swift). Its 20 over storage compartments (most amoung the 3)is also a good point.

Finally the swift with its main drawpoint being its shape will give the most useable space when the rear seats are folded down (though it has a mini-prob boot- i.e. too small with the seats up) together with the reliability of toyota engines.

I have 2 conti cars, 1 GOLF GTi and 1 Seat Toldeo 1.6M and just recently purchased the Swift Sport 1.6L. IMHO the feel is very very close to the conti cars. The handling is expectedly crisp and car and road feedback is also very positive, unlike typical Jap cars, where the feeling is a little detached.

A bad habit and exceedingly so, it is for me to change out the wheels and tires soon after the car is acquired to get the right poise and look of the car, and the Swift Sport I have is now also fitted with 18" wheels.

Now the handling package is further improved, and I can say is just like the Toledo, with Bilsteins PSS9 Coilovers with 18" wheels installed.

The exterior package for the Swift is appealing with European flair and in some angles look much like the new Golf V GTi. As for the interior, it is less exciting as it lacks the leathery feel and dash-board layout is also not as quality designed in terms of ergonomics, finishing and lack-lustre display panels when compared to German Cars.

The most important WOW factor was the pricing of the car. A base Swift Sport is going for about half of the Golf V GTi which leaves more $ for upgrades. There are already several after market parts for the Swift Sports ranging from handlign prackages to engine/exhaust upgrades and can be assumed to be more affordable that Euro priced parts.

Just my personal honest opinion,.... [rolleyes]

I'm driving ATswift too [sly]

I'm light footer [;)] FC can get 14.2km.

I suggest SWIFT too!

For Jazz, can reach 15km to 16km. But the engine is 1.4L. Off course slightly save fuel mah!
