Elfenstar 3rd Gear August 31, 2007 Share August 31, 2007 Your fender will be fine (of sorts ), but you'll fine that the section of tyre thats rubbing will wear out faster. Because of the way the fender is, mine cut a line into the tyres. There are 4 options: 1) Roll the inside lip of the fender 2) Roll the fender so it comes out by abt 1-2cms 3) cut the fender and use add on arches or 4) cut the fender and use a widebody-kit. The first 2 can be paintless (depends on paint condition and how much rolling is done) but the paint can crack. The 3rd can diy paint the exposed section of the fender and leave the arches black (which can look pretty nice at times) The last can diy paint the exposed section of the fender but i think most would want to paint the kit. Icekitten Clutched August 31, 2007 Share August 31, 2007 Guys anyone know where can i go to widen my wheel arch fenders , other then Super Modern, wats the rough price? D-Mix at Eunos does customised kits and fender widening together with a wide body kit too. They've also cut and added vents into stock fenders without having to add any wide fenders. They're good with customised work. D-Mix is at Blk 1063, Eunos Ave 4. They usually open from afternoon til late at night.

John1979 Neutral Newbie August 31, 2007 Share August 31, 2007 (edited) hi elfenstar! the 1st and 2nd choice do they need to do any cutting?? and how much would it cost?? becos from they way i see my fender, i also dunnoe how r they going to do it. yup! i also hv equires on 205/40/16 tires, which brand will hv this spec tires? Elfenstar 3rd Gear August 31, 2007 Share August 31, 2007 Nope. No cutting is done. They just need the guard roller machine. Where and how much i can't help coz i havent done it in singapore. As for your tyres, its quite a common size (or used to be anyway ) Just go to the tyre brand websites and look through their size charts.
John1979 Neutral Newbie September 1, 2007 Share September 1, 2007 (edited) hi Elfenstar! today i went to look for 16" rims and when they fit the 1st tire and rims to my front wheel. the worker straight away told mi cannot. the tire 205/40/16 is not suitable for my car as the external tire is inline with my external fender. by rolling the fender also no use. unless use ur no.4 choice. or use 195/40/16 tires. sian wasted my trip and found out my car can't fit with 205 width tires. yup! i would like to thank u for giving mi ur advise. Elfenstar 3rd Gear September 1, 2007 Share September 1, 2007 inline as in the arch is resting on the tyre or the sidewall is parallel to and inline with the arch?
John1979 Neutral Newbie September 2, 2007 Share September 2, 2007 hi Elfenstar! the tire sidewall is inline with the external fender arch. which means whenever i go over the hump the tire sidewall will rub on the fender arch as there is only 2.5cm(in height) gap in between. for tire width, it juz inline with the external fender arch. if i change to 215, the tire will protude out. i think the rim offset could help mi, but i dunno how to read the rim offset. macrosszero Turbocharged September 2, 2007 Share September 2, 2007 Try rolling your fender lips in, it helps to reduce or eliminate any rubbing that comes along with flush fitting rim offsets.
Elfenstar 3rd Gear September 2, 2007 Share September 2, 2007 The 2nd option i mentioned would work as it should push the guard out a little bit.
John1979 Neutral Newbie September 2, 2007 Share September 2, 2007 hi Macrosszero n Elfenstar! thnks for ur advise. i will go and check wats the price of rolling fender and then do the tire change. thnks alot.
Route88 2nd Gear September 2, 2007 Share September 2, 2007 Your choice of rim could have wrong offset, check your offset of the car, behind the rims theres numbers for the rims size/width and offset. As for roll up fenders, not sure any shop can do,it required to use roll up fender tool and heater blower as not to crack the paint.
John1979 Neutral Newbie September 2, 2007 Share September 2, 2007 (edited) hi route88! wat do u mean behind the rims?? izzit the inner circumference of the rims?? yup! i hv a change of mind. nw i dun intend to change to 16" rim and remain 15" rim but change the tire to 205/50/15. becos i noe nw 195/50/15 tire won't hit my fender or wheel arch. so nw increase the tire width to hv better area contact surface with road and look nicer. and it also won't lessen my comfort ride. Route88 2nd Gear September 2, 2007 Share September 2, 2007 Ya,inner circum of the wheel, but the issue here is rim width and offset tat makes tyre protude out. If both figures are met,i am sure your wheels can flush in nicely, even 17 inch rims. ↡ Advertisement
