Grounding/Earthing the Car

Ok ...most of u folks here drive conti cars...so dunno if its worthwhile?

Recently the topic of earthing the car thus improving performance..etc had come up among the various car forums

wonder if any MCF folks have tried it themselves be it DIY or paid installations...

I'm torn between shelling out $150-200+ and DIY (max $40???)

How about a DIY MCF earthing session? LOL [:p]

Haha .... thats what folks say ... but most of them just got better electricity distribution I guess... brighter headlamps, louder amp sounds..etc...not too sure [:p] but with those thick red and blue cables in the engine bay...sure brigthens it up!

Here's what one guy driving a galant said "from the discussions, it is basically to improve the flow of electricity back to the -ve terminal of the battery. with a better flow, the sparks produced by the SP will be stronger"

here's a link to what one of the SLCC guys did

Comments from ChuanKK after his DIY session "Immediate effects : Back pain, leg pain, brighter headlights, louder radio, louder horn. As for engine perf... car seems smoother."

No need for fabia. Original done by manufacturer.

First pic is the battery. Notice the cover that was lifted up.

Second pic is the cover on top of the battery with all the terminal neatly arranged.

Doing a better ground also depends on the cables used, a nickle braided wire will be best for ground conductivity.

Another option is to try thick copper speaker wires. [;)]

Having a better ground does improve the electrical distribution and thus increase the capacity of electrical components as current flow increases. [:)]

I dun think can improve performance, or it can be said "restore the power" that what the car should been have, especially for old car, can feel the different very obviously. After the installation for my new car, lighting is brighter, becoz old car can see the lights are coughing if electric power loose.

Ground wires for most of cars are factory fixed, but may not be good enough. To install on the Conti car is even harder than Jap car, my Mondy took 2hrs by a experience technican hands. New car may not need to install it now, but trust me- should be install one after 3yrs.

Can do a DIY version on my car during our meet up? Pls take precaution ok.... don't want to tow my car away. As my battery is an old one.... think would be able to feel the most differences...... how?

hi lightspeed... my car is oso 6 years old... just did up the ground wire 2 evenings back... using audio kinda monster cables... basically all copper wires with very low resistance can be used... i did mine at my fren's mechanic (no patience to wait for autobac's M's to come in next month)... had the battery changed at the same time oso (my battery's almost 3 years old)...

the effects after installing the ground wire... morning cranking much faster... lights are brighter like wat mondeo said... horn's louder too... but can't feel any difference in performance tho... but will still recommend not-so-new cars install it to minimise power loss... [:)]

one thing to note... the effects could be boosted by the fact that i had my battery changed at the same time oso...

Now I'm getting interested too! [:p] Anyone know where to get good cables, ring terminals, crimping tool?
