Grounding/Earthing the Car

Mine was done by a free lancer who I will not recommend. Was diagnosed by Ian, the distributor of Nanopulser as not so good workmanship. Managed to rectify the poor workmanship and connect to better grounding points.

 

No effect. Basically grounding is to allow more current flow. Don't expect any performance gain.

 

I think most workshops can do for you but I would advise you to consult more experienced mechanics and workshops. Search around mcf and you should have some leads.

That's the reason why I don't think wanna go into grounding. Connecting cables to the lug nuts of various points improve current flow? I'm not so sure. [:p][sly]

Actually proper grounding is to connect cables to appropriate points and not lug nuts. All my grounding points if u see beyond my bonnet is to different and various points of my car. None is to lug nut. [sweatdrop] Go read and find out the concept of grounding before u start listening too much of yourself or other people and claim ignorance/disbelief . [smash] If grounding is not important, then why car manufacturers have stock grounding cables for our cars when our rides roll out from factory? [laugh]

agree with you.

 

if we look under the bonnet, there are some items being grounded. they could be grounded to the battery directly for best current flow.

For older cars, I think grounding probably has a better effect as the existing conductivity of the wires would be subjected to wear and tear after all. Having said that, I still have friends with new cars who have mentioned a slight improvement in responsiveness after the added grounding.

Precisely.. Of course grounding is necessary and important, I think he was saying that additional grounding done by the owner won't have much effect.

 

The grounding has been done and incorporated into the design, all done in factory.

so further additional grounding done by the owner is considered redundant and unnecessary.

Yup grounding for older cars certainly does help. When the body is old and corroded, current flow might not be that efficient. Existing wires might be frayed or rusted also.. etc.

 

Also for modded cars with battery relocated to the rear, grounding certainly helps.

As with cars with big ICE..

 

But for the stock to mildly modded car, then the effect is almost negligible.

Much better luck losing both spare tyres, to improve the responsiveness. [laugh]

To me ground engine block, battery and alternator good enough. IMO grounding wires other end should not connect to the -ve terminal of the batt. Instead they should be bolted to any metal part of the car's chassis/body.

Auto electricians always like to make short connections and preferable direct back to the source - the whole idea is to cut down electronc flow resistance and prevent voltage drop. The chassis, overtime will develop corossion and returning ground cables bolted to it will suffer voltage drop. Any voltage drop of more than 0.5 volt will cause malfuctioning of sensitive acc/ components.

 

In summary all grounding cables must be returned and termined at the battery negative post.

I went to a shop a while back and the boss recommended those thick copper wires.

 

Does any bro here any view on this ? Thanks for your input

All cars are grounded but as the car gets older the grounding point deteriorates.

 

So adding a few more points helps.
