Siemi Neutral Newbie September 7, 2006 Share September 7, 2006 Hi, I'm scouting for a Sonata, the 2004 model. I just hapen to like that Korean jag , especially at those prices. But... how to determin what is the right price? So far I have seen them with body prices from 6250 (Gold color, no leather ) to 12194 (white with cream leather). The high one has of course a low COE, while the low one has a 30k COE. For the expensive one asking is 42.8K with COE 21.3K and 16K OMV. That one is from Nov 2004. Another one (black, leather ) asking 41.8K, 28K COE and 16.2K OMV (body 7K). Alamak, too much figures. Anyway, what is a reasonable price for the body? BTW, just for curiosity, anyone know body value Tucson and Trajet? Thanks! ↡ Advertisement
Nkps 1st Gear September 7, 2006 Share September 7, 2006 just buy the one with high COE but depreciate yearly lowest lor... safest bet... anyway, used car market very competitive nowadays, the price shall be more or less the same, those saving u got then go for leather seat etc etc lor.... Siemi Neutral Newbie September 8, 2006 Author Share September 8, 2006 Yeah, I'm still trying to learn how it works over here to own a car. I already know the whole calculation and so. Somehow it seems a bit weird to me that more or less identical cars can have such different body values. I thot that the price of a car was determined by paper value plus body value (which included dealer margin). But in this case the body value differs by over 100%... Nkps 1st Gear September 8, 2006 Share September 8, 2006 body value shall be more or less the same, but different car got different condition, since the car is not to scrap, it may lightly being sold to other country, so condition shall be playing part of the body value. However, we are talking about 2nd hand car, so different dealer may have different profit margin, that's why the similar age car (same model, same spec) may different... Siemi Neutral Newbie September 9, 2006 Author Share September 9, 2006 Well, I have seen the black one which looks like new, so it can't be the condition. Also I understood that black is the best color for exporting, so I really fail to see why the dealer is asking 12K body value for a white one. Why they do have in common is the same asking price, so maybe the white ones asking priced is based on the other asking prices as well.
Vollov Neutral Newbie September 9, 2006 Share September 9, 2006 you want to know the difference? the dealer's being greedy and trying to "chop carrot head" for unsuspecting buyers...u just need to squeeze them very much harder. After all, the money's in your pocket, and for the dealer, as long as the car doesn't get sold, the money isn't moving for them and is instead getting lesser with every passing day. Treat 2nd hand car dealers the way they try to treat u...means they want to chop u, u make sure for every chop they try to take out of u, u chop thm x2. Siemi Neutral Newbie September 11, 2006 Author Share September 11, 2006 To my surprise the white most expensive one was sold today. When sending a mail, I was offered 1800 sgd discount. Still it was the most epensive by far.....and white.... The SG market is weird...
