Hattee Neutral Newbie March 13, 2007 Share March 13, 2007 Well Essomobil 92 was my first 3 tanks with FP60. But Ten35 actually is better with it. Then switched to Shell 95 with FP60, the improvement is more noticeable as compared to going after back to Essomobil. Maybe it's my imagination. But those who felt close to V-power couldn't be wrong, perhaps. Or is Essom0bil 92 believed to be the most "overclockable" grade. My experience with Caltex is not very friendly to aftermarket additives. But its Dextron neither stands out as fuel saving nor performance-giving. Others may think otherwise. For those interested in Ten35, some details at http://www.filtakleen-usa.com/fuel/index.htm . Looks like many of these additives even do better with diesel. ↡ Advertisement
Geogeo Neutral Newbie March 13, 2007 Share March 13, 2007 Pls advise wat's the logic behind. Is it that FP60 might not work well with cleaner which contain in RON95 & above, whereas RON92 has the least or almost no cleaner which FP60 can work more effectively? O2asis Neutral Newbie March 14, 2007 Share March 14, 2007 It has nothing to do with the cleanng agents. It remains a fact that the lower octane fuel has the most energy to burn. We usually feel the higher octane fuel gives us more "punch" cause of more additives that the fuel companies put in. But higher octane fuel doesn't burn better. Performance car needs it to prevent pre-detonation and squeeze out more power. FP60 treats the fuel so it burns better giving out LOWER emission. Also have excellent lubricity (a much desired property especially in LSD). Lubricates the fuel pump, fuel injectors while keeping everything clean. Helps resist corrosion and has the ability to remove water that may be present in your fuel tank. Has fuel stabilizing properties, etc.... About the most complete fuel additive out there and nothing comes close.
Geogeo Neutral Newbie March 14, 2007 Share March 14, 2007 But isn't using lower octane causes more pinging? Let's assuming the engine is using the lowest octane specified in the user manual.
Jonbummer Neutral Newbie March 14, 2007 Share March 14, 2007 sorry, me no expert, just chipping in. i reckon the min RON states in most normal car manual will be Ron 91 and since the lowest we have here is 92 (quite difficult to find already), we are already above the min level required. so far for me, i just pump in 95 with the FP60 needed. cos personally, 95 is easier to find and the price difference between 95 & 92 is negligible. cheers
Geogeo Neutral Newbie March 14, 2007 Share March 14, 2007 (edited) I'm was trying to find out what octane worked best with FP60. But after O2asis's explanation, I'll try out a few tanks of 92 and do comparison with 95. Edited March 14, 2007 by Geogeo
O2asis Neutral Newbie March 14, 2007 Share March 14, 2007 (edited) When your stock car is speced for min RON95, it should not ping when using the min RON. Cars that do ping usually is due to carbonaceous deposits in the Combustion Chamber(CC). As the air/fuel mixture is being compressed, high temp occur. And before the sparkie fire, the carbonaceous deposits becomes hot spots igniting the air/fuel. Pinging results FP60 is able to clean out these carbonaceous deposits in the CC. I have a stock WRX tested that's able to run on RON92 (Min RON95). Only when doing hard run, pinging is present. With FP60, it run smooth. Many cars with min RON95 speced has tried RON92 with FP60 and without problem. Would still recommend meeting the min RON speced. So far RON95 (various brands) with FP60 gives good results. Usually close to premium fuel but at a lower price. Edited March 14, 2007 by O2asis

Geogeo Neutral Newbie March 14, 2007 Share March 14, 2007 During my last servicing @ 20000km, I asked the mechanic to tune the fuel running lean in order to save some fuel as I'm always trying to be light footed. Would it affect FP60 cleaning capability?

Geogeo Neutral Newbie March 15, 2007 Share March 15, 2007 Just done slightly over half tank of 50% RON92 & 50% RON95. Why 50-50? Well, I'm not really comfortable with complete switch to a full tank of RON92 from RON95, therefore, top up with 50% RON92 when RON95 is half empty. Went to top up the half tank of 50-50 RON92/95 today, and surprisingly the FC increased from my usual 12.5-13.5km/l to more than 14.5km/l I never hit past 14km/l before but of course, measuring half tank is not accurate enough. Perhaps I'll feedback again after this tank is done.

O2asis Neutral Newbie March 16, 2007 Share March 16, 2007 FP3000 won't be available for retail sale unfortunately. I have some sample on hand. Damm66 is one of those who pestered me for some so..... Hahahaha Anyway, first impression ride seems smoother. FP3000 UCL properties is supposely better than FP60. There seems to be some initial FC Improvement. However too soon to conclude anything. Need many more fill up to confirm. I'm not yet convinced that FP3000 is more superior than FP60. Time will tell and more test is required :)
