Thanks guys for ur replies! V helpful!

My budget is around $1200 to $1500, inclu cabling and labour. I mainly listen to R&B, bossa novaand some hip-hop + pop. Oh yea, my gf listens to a lot of chinese stuff like jay chou and stef sun...=)

So alpine processor and prob 2nd hand amp? Any good recc for amp?

As for speakers, I should get components for front and leave stock rear? Link 2 ch to front and maybe 2ch to sub and link HU to rear sp? Was also considering Polk Audio.

I've seen the centre console add on (dunno if the same) but it involves shifting the stock HU to another place in the car, eg boot. Seems a bit too much to me... Would prob stick to stock HU to retain the stock look of the dash.

Thanks again!

If you getting DB Drive stuff, can go to their authorised dealers. I believe the bro Headshok can help on who are the dealers of DB Drive.

To me, their product is value for money as it has high power ratings and low price ratings. However, for those prices, you can also get reasonably good 2nd hand amps.

Go look around before committing. Maybe you can let us know what are you currently using in terms of your equipment and also what is your music genre. What is the reason behind using a amp??

Depends on what you equipment you want to get, 800-900 may not be enough also.

If you have budget constraint, do look at 2nd hand stuff to get max value out your buy. If you are not keen into 2nd hand stuff, I will have to admit DB Drive stuff are really value for money! [thumbsup]

S$1200 to $1500 is not enough to get you the processor. The processor plus controller is already about $1100-1200.

Based on my humble opinion, if you get 2nd hand items, below is the price indication:

1. Mid range 4 channel amp - Around 400

2. Mid range speakers - Around 400

3. 10-12 inch sub - 200-300

Plus installation and cabling, may be able to meet $1500. Dun forget you still need to soundproof your door to get good sound for the components and also reduce vibrations.

Cheers!

Thanks!

Wow, didn't realise the processor so exp....maybe I'll give it a miss.

Any recc for 2nd hand amp and speakers? Did a search and there's a big variety of preferences (as expected)... ranging from JBL to clarion to Rockford.

For my budget, maybe just change the front and add 4 ch amp and 10" sub. May not soundproof cos weight matters to my car.

Thanks again!

Go to www.sgsoundsystem.com and Delphiforums to look for any people selling ICE. I just saw 2 different ads for Audison LrX4.300 at $300 and a Diamond 4 channel amp around $400 plus. To me, both are ok.

Dun do it in a hurry. Slowly look around for items. No need to hurry as hurry may not get you good things. Do note that installation charges can be costly.

And last but not least, soundproof is important in order to reduce vibrations on the doors as well as to improve mid bass.

If you really want to get a decent system, do a proper one with some investment, if not you will be constantly paying money to upgrade subsequently.

New Generation is famous and their products are reputable and typically not on the cheap side. You can go there to take a look. I am not sure about whether do they have 2nd hand stuff.

You can go check with them.

Seems like you are very observant bro!

Anyway did not went back to AE. Was at another shop but will not reveal the name in provate.

Initially was only installing back my items and halfway through was poisoned by the boss of the shop and then do further investment on the H701 processor and also change my speakers. Last but not least, finally also got rid of my weakest link since last time which is the sub and the monoblock.

So now so far I am running in my new speakers for close to 3 weeks. Will be doing final tuning using RTA in end May once I have time. That time should be swee. However, the bug has attacked me and I am also looking at the possibility of a better sub. But so far, I am happy with the current Sounstream sub. However, would just like to explore my options in case of further upgrades!

I will see whether I can make it to ICE meetup one day. My current setup is considered amateur compared to the pros at the Nasi Padang stall! However, I am loving every minute of it due to great tuning by my installer.

I did not pay a bomb for it but its giving me good results! [thumbsup]

Will go scout round for a good deal. Thanks!

Dun really wanna spend a bomb on my sound system...just wan something moderately good, cos my stock one on my rx8 really sucks big time (esp after the PI gave me a RF type CD changer!!!!). Most impt to me is that the installer mustn't screw up my car interior.. seen some others with badly done installation...
