Headshok 1st Gear April 13, 2007 Share April 13, 2007 depends on whether ur satisfied with ur setup. most satisfaction in my opinion would be, 4 channel amp, 2 channel to front, 2 channel bridge to a proper sub in the boot. rear run off HU. if u wanna improve ur sound, then go this way. if u happy with ur sound, then stay, heheh.. Protege 1st Gear April 14, 2007 Share April 14, 2007 Like what Headshok commented, if you are happy with what you have, then save the money. If you want improvement and also intend to upgrade your setup in the future, get a proper 4 channel amp now first. Then when budget permit again, get a better component. Happy ICEing! Apollo 1st Gear April 14, 2007 Share April 14, 2007 if u want basic, just a 2 channel for the infinity speakers will do the job. not sure if ur 8" sub is delivering natural / deep bass. best u also tone down the rear speakers.
Simply_lex Neutral Newbie April 19, 2007 Share April 19, 2007 are rear speakers actually required if emphasize on staging and SQ? is it just for the sake of back passengers?
Protege 1st Gear April 19, 2007 Share April 19, 2007 Rear speakers will most likely mess up the staging and SQ as if you have a good pair of speakers in front and the rear is a different speakers, it will have difference characteristics and therefore affect the overall SQ. Simply_lex Neutral Newbie April 19, 2007 Share April 19, 2007 Thank you for your prompt reply. In dat case I will remove the rear ones since they are stock Pioneer While running on a active setup.

Poortraveller 1st Gear April 22, 2007 Share April 22, 2007 thinking of getting a amp to drive my front speaker and a sub ... any 4ch amp to recommend with budget abt $400?
Dunno Neutral Newbie April 22, 2007 Share April 22, 2007 Try DB Drive Speed series, they are powerful and value for money. 125w x 4ch, and priced within your budget. If you get the 85w x 4ch, should cost slightly above $300 only.
Lilming Neutral Newbie April 24, 2007 Share April 24, 2007 Hi, I'm new to the forum and can't post a new thread. Was wondering if u guys minded if I ran my setup by u all here (am very sorry if I'm hijacking someone's thread....can just delete my post if so) Also new to ICE so dun laugh at my setup....haven't done it yet. Am thinking of putting the below into my car...it's a 2007 Mazda RX8 Front Speakers: Infinity Reference 6020CS vs Infinity Kappa 60.7cs 6 1/2" Components Rear Speakers: Infinity Reference 9623I vs Infinity Kappa 693.7i 6 x 9 " 3-ways Amp: Infinity Reference 475A 4 ch amp 300W/180W Bridged Sub: May not add...or may just do an 8" tube in boot. Wan to save space Audiolink iPOD adaptor Would u guys recommend the Pioneer sound processor? Can't change my HU as it's connected to my aircon. sad thing abt rx8. Thinking to getting it done at New Generation since it comes highly recc in the searches I've done. Thanks! Sorry for so many qn. Sorry I'm posting in this thread! Protege 1st Gear April 24, 2007 Share April 24, 2007 For processor, go for the Alpine H701 + RUX-C701 option and that will enable you to retain your existing HU. But do note that you will experience slight hissing sound from the processor since it is not connected to the HU on optical link. Do you have a budget in mind? I am personally not very familiar with Infinity range of products. Maybe you can let the bros know your budget as well as your music type you listen to for a better recommendation. Protege 1st Gear April 24, 2007 Share April 24, 2007 Bro, Get a 2nd hand amp. At $400, you should be able to get a reasonably good one. But do note of also the installation charges if there is currently no amp in your car......
Dunno Neutral Newbie April 24, 2007 Share April 24, 2007 Yes, if you have no existing amps in the car, you have to factor in main fuse + fuse cable, RCA cables and wiring charges (if necessary). Should cost around another $100 for average ones. Good branded cables, eg, Monster cables, can add up to $300-500.
Spinworkx Clutched April 24, 2007 Share April 24, 2007 I know of a fellow RX8 driver who bought the center console add-on that will allow you to put an external HU and bypass the stock built in player. It's something that replaces the compartment on top with a holder for the HU. It's direct from Japan. He also did it at New Gen. He added a P90 to the car. This will be a better option than adding a processor to the stock unit because well, you might get hissing. The upside is that you won't spoil the stock outlook :) So it's up to you...but processor wise, Alpine 701 is the way to go. As for speakers, Infinity ain't too bad but RX8 is a car with a snall enclosure, you won't need a 3-way rear speaker. A good pair of front components will more than sifficiently fill your entire car. In fact, almost all ICE enthuists, do without rear speakers...they spoil the sound, and without them, you save 2 ch for your amp to do something else with it.
