Dunno Neutral Newbie April 16, 2007 Share April 16, 2007 I was using a Performa 4ch 800w amp and there were some buzzing sound from the tweeters while the engine is on. It can be minimised by adjusting the RCA cables, so still bearable. Only slightly audible if you intentionally look out for it. The wierd problem comes when I changed the amp to a DB Drive Speed 120.4. After switching the amps, I get a lot of noise. 1. Once I turn the ignition key to ON, I hear a high pitch whine. Once I start the engine, I hear loud buzzing sound from the tweeters (on top of the whine). Gain was set to only 20%. When I off the HU vol or engine, the speakers give a loud "pok" sound. 2. Tried turning all gain, bass boost and vol to 0, the buzzing sound is still very audible on all 4 speakers and tweeters. 3. For my setup, the 4ch amp is under the passenger seat. The power cable goes round the back of the driver seat to the amp, coming in from the back of the seat. The RCA and speaker cables comes from the front via the centre console to the amp. I made sure RCA/speaker wires are isolated from the power cable. The grounding is done securely bolted onto one of the rear legs of the seats. It seems that as long as there's signal coming through the amp, the speakers produce noise. Took out the DB Drive and install back the Performa, everything back to normal. What could be the problem? ↡ Advertisement
Spinworkx Clutched April 17, 2007 Share April 17, 2007 Why don't you bring the DB back to the agent and get them to test it? Might be a faulty amp...since your performa had no problems... Or try te DB with another setup and see if also got sound...if really amp spoil, any setup you run it in will have that buzzing....if that's true, then confirm amp got problem liao...if not...that means it's something else liao.. Protege 1st Gear April 17, 2007 Share April 17, 2007 Yo bro! Seems like you have upgraded! Congrats!! Anyway from the way you describe, its most likely a case where the DB Drive amp is faulty. Go to your installer to check it lah! Thats the best since they are the expert!
