Hey all,

Intro, driving an EP80 Grey Starlet Gi X Limited. Do correct me if I am wrong, coz I am new to my car, Engine 1E 999cc, Power Steering, 15" Firenza.

Basically, I need a transport to my school down town after work :) and fishing down at Bedok Piers.

Hope to meet up all of you guys one day, I am pretty much a shy person but feel free to approach me ><.

I'm just wondering, are there any EP70 owners here that has a woofer fixed up?

I'm planning to get one where you can slot it under the driver's seat, I spoke to my mech about it and he said that he's afraid that the alternator may not be able to withstand it..

That depends on how big (read powerful) a woofer you want to install, and how many other electrical gadgets you have on the car. Can't be that big a woofer if you intend to put it under the driver's seat. If you use a small woofer that operates on say 50W max power, you're only going to consume 4A max from your electrical system. In most cases, you won't be maxing out the woofer, cos the woofer, if you have a proper crossover, will only be producing transient peaks (ie the boom, boom is not continuosly loud all the time is any form of music that you are likely to play.) and so the electrical consumption won't be too high.

Having said that, if you stop at the side of the road, switch off the engine and blast loud music while waiting for your girlfriend(s) /fishing kakis/ soccer teammates... You better get ready to push start the car lor.

I've found that a pair of good 6"x9" speakers in the rear parcel shelf of a hatchback can produce good enough bass that you don't need a subwoofer.

I've also replied your other post on low idling. You may want to have a voltmeter /ammeter installed to help you monitor the electrical usage if you are concerned that your alternator can't make it.

Yea, you're probably right, for hatchback car, not necessary to have a woofer.

I'm a person who loves to feel that bass when I'm listening to my music....being able to feel the bass notes makes me feel the music 100%.

For now, I'm using a 3 way JBL speaker, and my front 2 x tweeters are really soft.

What would you suggest?

Hi welcome to the family. Yup your car is a EP80 Starlet XL. Starlet GI is a EP81 3 door which is not avalliable in SGP market.

Don't need to be shy... every1 here are very friendly.... guess I think I need to organise a meetup soon.
