All Starlet friends,

I'm thinking of getting a starlet. May I ask, what are the things that I should look out for before buying a EP80?

Is the consumption better than 12km/l easily?

Please help!

Wow, good consumption! The starlet comes with original power steering right? I mean the EP80. .. My concerns is safety... My dad's old civic's electrical system shortcircuited while he was on the PIE and the brakes failed! How do I check that?

BTW, he's okay.. he managed to use engine brakes and the hand brake to slow down the vehicle... quite cool huh? haha.

nope... no original power steering. but the steering is not that heavy actually.. guys wont have a problem at all. however many starlets out there is already fitted with power steerin.

about the electrical system and safety issues dont worry! so far i haven't heard of any starlet having such issues at all. thanks to the japanese toyota factory.

good fc, reliable, and perfect power to wt ratio.

FC on the Starlet can vary depending on the condition of the car/engine etc. so mileage may vary. but generally, for a well-maintained starlet without mods, 13-14km/L is very common.

as with all kinds of vehicles, things can go wrong. we won't say things won't go wrong. the brakes are vacuum actuated, if the hoses break suddenly, you will lose braking power too.

so maintenance is key. the car is rather reliable, things won't go wrong as easily - that's why there's still a whole bunch on the roads.

Actually the most important part of a car is its braking system. Without that you're dead... Anyway, we should have the hose checked, or better still, replaced when getting an older car...
