Understanding A/F Ratio Gauge readings

Very few make of cars ECU is affected by spark plug resistance rating - I understand Saab is one of them. Use the wrong resistant rating plugs, you may be able to start up the engine but no way to rev up.

My ride is NA....Thanks for your advice....I have tuned down the high end lean values for now....I have been using the OBDII diagnostics to see any signs of pinging but none yet.....

Any recommendations for workshop to install the wideband AF gauge...how much should I expect to splurge out? I saw an AEM wideband with both wideband and narrowband outputs for OEM O2 sensor replacement.....is this a good idea?

Thanks!

A few possibilities..

1. pivot probably has little to nothing to do with it, it probably does nothing to your car.

2. Because you tap into stock O2 sensor signal, that probably introduces some resistance to the wiring. Overtime, the signal degrades abit and the gauge reads slightly less voltage.

Narrow band gauge is generally useless, as your ecu is monitoring at all times, if it is truly lean, your ecu will throw an error. If you reset your ecu now, it'll go back to lean-rich-lean, and you'll feel sudden increase in acceleration/smoothness. But eventually it'll go back to the most fuel efficient state.

sorry for the late reply, I've been asking around but most of the car owners I know that have a wideband installed bought their wideband overseas and shipped it back. I really dunno if any of the shops here carry something like this. My own PLX M300 was bought in the states and shipped back via vpost. Cost about $500.

YOu might want to try Gan Motorsports as they are the agent for Greddy and I know that the Greddy A/F gauge is a proper wideband. Defi has no A/F meter.

Bro,

I have checked with Catronic...they have stock for PLX R-300..about$500.....I was thinking of permanent setup...as in getting someone to drill the front exhaust pipe leading to the centre muffler...and then install the wideband O2 sensor....but I am concerned about quality of weld of bung, leading to exhaust leak later on.....will I also kena if I go for LTA inspection, accusing me of exhaust mods?

Can you kindly share if you have permanently installed it....if so any reliable mechanic to recommend me? Or did you use an exhasut clamp for tuning only?

Also looking at Innovate Handheld if finally decide not to opt for permanent setup option.

Thanks!

exhaust mod for a O2 sensor? I don't think so.

The people I know that have this, their sensors and gauges were installed by Ah Keong of BKS Woodlands. His workshop is in Northlink building, 3rd level.
