Amps/Subwoofers relationship..

No offense taken bro. But I feel it's necessary to highlight to others that while there are many different brands of products out there available at different prices, most of the time quality differences exist. For example, the in-line fuse holder can be found for as low as S$5 each, however, the plastic housing may be made of an inferior raw material, thus resulting in lower heat/energy transfer tolerances. I've personally tried out a S$5 holder in the past & had the housing melt & crack due to the heat in the engine bay. I've changed to a S$18 holder (still nothing fancy, just a plastic housing with 2 metal contact points & the fuse) & it's still holding up beautifully.

Same goes for cables. A S$2.50 per metre cable may have thinner insulation or use wires of a different metal composite compared to a S$10 per metre cable. This may result in interference or even risk catching fire when exposed to heat, especially from the engine bay. While the cable may be rated at the same 8AWG or 6AWG, the wire strands in the cable may be designed to only take a smaller load. This is due to different alloys being used, like nickel, copper, silver, gold etc.

Bottomline is, generally speaking, you pay peanuts, you get monkeys. While it can be worthwhile to save some money on your ICE components like amps & speakers, I strongly believe that one should not make too much compromise on things like fuses & cabling. These seemingly small & insignificant items are one of the hinges on which your safety lies on. The last thing you want is a system that can consume up to 40 amperes of power when your cabling & fusing is only capable of taking a load of 30 amperes before overheating & catching fire. [;)]
