Toughest Sealant Recommendation

Hi all gurus,

 

Need some recommendations on a new car in terms of the TOUGHEST sealant. No need to have the best shine but need to be tough enough to prevent water spots and yet easy to apply. Did a search on sealant but mainly on the best shine. Reason being I will not have much time to clean it (once a week). Currently using HiGlaze 88, old skool but can last a week or two before no more water beading. To add on, it is a very good cleaner on tough spot as well. Other than this, have not try other sealants and thus asking for assistance here, preferbly, brand, price and where to buy.

I am not a guru..just sharing my views. There won't be any toughest sealant in the market.Nowadays lots of paint protective claim to be the toughest and most durabable.If you have notice..they actually advise you to go back after few months for touchup..This means they do know in our tropical weather,most wax and sealant don't last.

 

I have tried tons of stuff,sealant,wax etc..Most die off in a month or 2..An example is the Aquawax,over in states,detailers are claiming the durability is 6month but I will not expect it to survive so long in our tropical weather..a month is good enough for me.

 

Over here,acid rains,bird poo,sap are killers for our car paint works.The best is to have them clean away immediately.No wax or sealant will actually totally prevent them but just to slow down the etching process. Best to coat a layer of sealant or wax bi-weekly..

You do not have to be humble as any frequent reader of the detailing section will know you are a guru together with a few other. I have read your earlier recommendations in other posts and I think I forgot to mention DIY. lol. Thanks for the advices anyway.

You might also want to read about the soft99 9 or 12mths sealant.

My advise is that you get something that is spray on and wipe off kind of product....min. hassle..other sealants like DG spray sealant could fit into this too.

I like to second what MD has said. There are many brands out there with their own claims based on different sets of conditions and expectations when testing the product. We have to take into consideration our own weather conditions when evaluating these claims.

 

Therefore, regular maintanance is our best bet. Remove impurities or contaminants as n when able (not tired ) or when willing .

 

Btw, water beading or water repellency is not a basis of jugding whether the protection is still there or not. When i do machine polishing, I usually rinse the car after the buffing stage to remove the dust collected all over the car. At this stage, the paintwork is not suppose to have any protection but the water beads like crazy.

That's a tad abrasive for my liking to be used on a weekly or bi-weekly basis

After SRP, you should protect the paint with a sealant or wax~

Try the EGP . Not too bad.. But the waiting time before buffing off may deters some

Bro, sealant and polish are 2 different things.

 

Sealant - Adds layer of protection.

 

Polish - To buff out markings i.e. swirls.

 

So, if you polish too much, you are effectively doing the opposite of what a sealant is suppose to do and also clearing away your clear coat.

 

After polishing, you should also follow-up with sealant to top-up what was removed by the polish and then wax.

if u dont mind to spend abit more money, u may send ur car in to a gd spray paint shop to coat a thicker n harder layer of clear coat is about $1k to $2k depending the size of ur car. then on top of that u may try to wax it once in 2 weeks, those normal wax will able to last n protect it up to 2 weeks. dont need to spend too much on those sealant package, because the addition clear coat already cost u so much. n this clear coat should hard enough to prevent those marks. plus the layer of wax i think u will be very safe from water marks. but of course also need to depending where u park ur car most of the time n washing the car is a must. above is my 2 cents view only. cheers

#845..months after application still beading nicely...if you kiasu and don't care bout looks, apply collinite 476 thick thick and DON'T buff off, this one may last longer

yeah.. go with either Collnite 845 or 476. Both are good! Not too sure if MD has them still. If not, go the DuraGloss route.

It is true

 

I gave up polishing years ago

 

after hours of hard work polishing the car, I myself (human body) also become shining

 

so tried all sort of brand from A to Z

 

now send to AD for 2 year package of beautification but i still notice after afew weeks i begin to see whirls marks on the car

 

manufacturers have nano technology that can do away with all these nonsense of polishing but they do not want to kill of the polishing industry

Been looking around of one in ages. Any bros here can recommend the brand and where to get?
