FC will not deter you... i will be more concerned about whereabouts to maintain the car in spore... which year is that?? series 6, 7 or 8...
Fckes Neutral Newbie August 10, 2007 Share August 10, 2007 many things to consider if looking for that car and these are one of the few 1. insurance - it will kill 2. fuel consumption - rx8 if driven lightly and travelling mostly on expressways would get you around.. 7km/l ? not forgetting that fd3s is a turbocharged rotary. expect around 4km/l or less if driven hard. 3. maintainence - cant be avoided, most coe cars need to spend quite an amount to maintain.(not many workshops are specialised in rotaries) 4. poison - cant be driving that type of car and not to mod it right? if everything is within your budget i would say GO for iT! you only live once. as for the price, gotta look into the mods done before justifying if 80k is worth it or not. Weichien Clutched August 10, 2007 Author Share August 10, 2007 my mech say it will cost a bomb and spare part is hard to find if something goes wrong with the rotaries. rx-8 is a little awful to me. ( no offense ) it look lady to me. not a fast car and not worth it's price and for it look.' my dad ex savanna cost him alot on repairing and maintaining. seems a little over my pocket. let's say 1L go 6km. 1 day average travel 80km. = 14L or more. this type of car sure must floor de. if not drive this car for what. 1k more den my current car
Porker Turbocharged August 10, 2007 Share August 10, 2007 Suggest you look for an S15 or maybe an Evo lah. Both are newer and most probably in a better condition (subjective again)
Weichien Clutched August 10, 2007 Author Share August 10, 2007 i think older evo and rotaries cars are nicer den the current evo 8-9 and rx-8. but surprisingly i think it's not worth it as the price has not much different or only 10-20k cheaper. Vblaster_w211 2nd Gear August 10, 2007 Share August 10, 2007 (edited) Decision for such cars cannot be from the head, but from the heart. Go with your heart as long as your wallet can handle, or you may regret your decision for yrs to come. Newer Evos make better sense money wise, but driving a rare car like RX-7 or NSX will be an even rarer experience than the Ferrari's or Lambos. Confirm will turn heads. Monster garage, GarageR are a few with rotaries experience. Edited August 10, 2007 by Vblaster_w211

Blackreplica Neutral Newbie August 12, 2007 Share August 12, 2007 Hi there I had some experience driving the efini rx-7 back in '99 or maybe '00. Its was the flip up lights model. was a friend's car. The few times i drove it around were very memorable. The car is an absolute beast. Acceleration is rocket like and the turbo surge is highly addictive. Easily 6 secs or less to 100kph. Handling wise it stuck to the road like glue, roadholding was amazing. My best impression of the car came from the cabin layout and seating position. You are embraced in a very sporting seating position which to this day i consider 'perfect' for a sports car. Maintainence costs were high, because it is a high performance car. NOT because it had a rotary engine. Only the ignorant label rotaries as problematic. Rotaries have every reason to work better, with less problems than an equivalent piston. Of course expect horrendous fuel consumption, one of the few drawbacks to the rotary. Combine it with the turbo and you're in deep sxxt. If i recall it was about 300km for a full tank. not to mention petrol prices these days are nowhere as low as they were in '99 and even back then i had a hard time coming to terms with how much a full tank would cost and how short a time it would last. However i would never recommend getting an rx-7 now. It's glory days are over. It's too old and the typical profile of an rx-7 driver (think reckless heavy right footed loon) means the engine has probably been run into the ground. Esp at the price you are being quoted, its ridiculous. My buddy paid about 118,0000 for it back in '98. fast forward nearly a decade later and people dare to ask for 80K? Thats nonsense Seeya
Weichien Clutched August 13, 2007 Author Share August 13, 2007 thanks Blackreplica not even considering already. not worth it. it's more den 250000 mileage. + a 2-3yr old euro-r or rex is around that price. worth be a better value.
Comnao 1st Gear August 13, 2007 Share August 13, 2007 price is reasonable only... not fantastically cheap on a good day ... its fun to drive ... but expensive to maintain once blown ... can consider bankruptcy during my prev car at 40K servicing... saw in my ex regular wk shop had a black one in for repairs by the time i did not 50K servicing... car still there during 60K servicing ... wk shop tell me ... car spend 30mins on the road in the past 4 mths before dying again ... enough said. but dont worry about parts... there is a market full flooded with after mkt parts for this car and there is a world of suckers out there waiting to grab this car... so no worries about resale value as long you did not bang the car big time. Weichien Clutched August 13, 2007 Author Share August 13, 2007 i'm not very worry about the fc cos at least the road tax is cheap. but miliage is high which i worry. (250000 - 260000) this car is almost a free-rev engine to me. don't feel like letting go the pedal until it shoot 4-5rpm up. sports car seems to be alittle outdated compare to the past. lesser and lesser people really know how to appreciates this car or have retired completely . which i'm still a young kid. even brand new car like my current is cheaper than this monster. how to have high resale. and also a 12-13yr old car.
