If I was going to Frasers, this is where I would stay:

Not some humongous condotel or such like.

The last time I went to Frasers in 2001, I was disappointed with the waterfall. I first went there in the mid seventies as a teenager with my parents. Then, FH was a pristine place, a little slice of heaven. Clear water, lush greenery, low temperatures.

Because of development and deforestation, the greenery has receded, pushing up temperatures and the waterfall is no longer clear, it is brown with erosion soil. [:(]

But two things worth doing are the jungle trek (get a map from the World Wildlife Fund office) and having tea at Ye Old Smokehouse.

Enjoy! [wave]

nothing much at Frasers [:p]

Resorts are much poorer value for $ as compared to camerons. we stayed at the pines (RM110 for non-weekend, 3 bedroom apt [jawdrop] ). it sleeps up to 6 (on beds that is. if you wanna be cheapskate and bring air mattresses and the like i'd wager there's enuff room for 15 pax [laugh] .

the next nite, we moved to Jelai Resort. RM110 for weekend but much smaller and lousier room. weekend at the pines would cost RM170 or so. so we decided to save a bit. jelai is much cooler somehow.. i feel that is a plus point.

there's really nothing much to do there unless one golfs. archery quite fun, RM8 for 10 arrows (i hit the target 5 times.. some of my arrows can CURVE away from target [dizzy] )

horse riding is lame, more for kids. we didn't bother.

went hiking cum birdwatching. the place really lives up to its reputation as bird-watchers' paradise! we saw maybe 6-7 species of birds (not many, but that's without binos or guide) and a large eagle took off across our path less than 10 metres away [shocked]

2nd nite, we walked to the town centre from jelai resort, about 20 mins stroll.. on the way back we saw quite a few wild boars roaming around [inlove]

also saw a large turtle on the road on the 2nd day.. may upload pix if i have the time.. wait for me to skive during the weekday.. [sly]

things to note:

the gap timing.. pls search on the net [flowerface].

food is expensive compared to most other places. i'd recommend the malay restaurant at the town centre.. shop around. it's not so overpriced like the chinese restaurant [shakehead]

there are leeches in the jungle. bring medicated oil and apply on the leech. it will drop off immediately. we damn hero and went in with sandals, had a few close shaves but lucky no bite.

mossies, wear lots of repellent at night. or use those electronice repellent aerosol dispenser. whatever.. you have been warned.

no petrol up there. but if you go up with more than 3/4 shd not be an issue.
