External GPS module

Hi guys,

 

1. Wanted to find out whether a universal interface exist for an external GPS module to be connected to those 2DIN LCD Panel HU? My Liliput 2608MT has a jack that connects to an external GPS module but the original GPS module is just too expensive.

 

2. I'm wondering that if the GPS module is just making use of the LCD to display map, it shouldn't be too difficult to get more resonably priced external GPS module to interface with it.

 

Can the experts or those who have tried it advise me.
