1K servicing @ AD

Hi MCFs.

My car is due for 1k servicing soon and i believe they will be changing the engine oil with mineral during the servicing.

 

Can I actually immediately change the mineral oil to full-sync oil after the servicing? Any impact for new car engine?

Yes you can, but have to pay the different. Normally, I purchase from outside and bring it along during servicing. Can get much cheaper outside and sometimes with free gift thats comes with the syn oil.

 

I rather wait till next free servicing at 5K to change to syn oil so as to get the engine well running in.

Not advisable as your car engine has not finished running in properly yet and needs to use mineral engine oil for that purpose as full-sync oil will be too dilute to run-in your engine and thus may cause future side-effects eg, bad FC, engine vibration and etc..

 

Recommended to change your engine oil to full-sync after at least 10k mileage with some harddriving at interval so that small metal parts in your new engine are completely washed out by the mineral oil.

 

My WS recommend me to change mine at 20k as i seldom hard drive my ride.

Is honda car engine different? All honda cars change to fully Syn at 1k and the next servicing is at 10k.

From what I know, mineral oil can last 5000km while sync oil @ 10000km. That tells you why yr next servicing is @ 10k and mine @ 5k. I might be wrong
