Hi TB and all brudders here,

I owned a G9 Corolla and I am thinking of using RP engine oil. Any workshops recommended for this task? That means I am bringing in my own oil and oil filter. I have just checked with Stamford Tyres in Jurong, they refuse to do it unless I use Caltex oil. [:/]

Most big workshops have a contract with a particular brand of oil so cannot use others or customer's own oil.

For normal servicing try this mech:

Ah Lin

Blk 29, Sin Ming Ind Est

#01-215

Tel: 4563710

He charges reasonably. [;)]

Thanks Turbo,

Any other workshops? I dread Sin Ming as it is out of the way and I have to go through CTE to reach it. How about Ubi/Eunos or Tuas/Pioneer North?

Why don't you try changing the oil yourself. This is what car enthusiast likes to do, get your hand dirty, sweat a little, hunt for bolts and nuts that dropped out on the floor but just couldn't find them. The joy of fixing something is very satisfying.

Put some old newspaper under the car and a basin to hold the used oil. Unloosen the drain nut which normally should be a 14mm hex nut or 17mm hex nut. To remove oil filter, buy a universal oil filter wrench in the event you change car.

Those mechanics outside don't like customers to bring their own oil because they can't make money. So if they charge you $20 to $30 for labour, your total cost of svc comes back to the same.

That's the problem. I used to changed my own oil in Canada, but over here where am I going to dispose of the oil? I don't think the gas stations here have any recycling and collection facilities for old oil.

Well, U could pour the used oil back to the oil container after filling with the new oil and dump it at the petrol kiosk's workshop trash bin [:p]
