there arre some factual errors in the blog....

the picture of the white concept audi is NOT the A1.

it is the Audi Shooting brake concept car. it is a Kammback design hatch.

not quite the A1.

 

also the A1 is NOT a A2 replacement. the A2 was in a league of it own as the most expensive compact car complete with ASF (audi space frame) all aluminium construction. the name A2 probably killed it as it gave buyers the impression it was beneath that of the A3. it is/was not.

the A2 could actually cost more than the base A3s easily. it was a very advanced engineered car for it time - perhaps too ahead of it time hence the demise of the previous A2 due to production costing.

 

the A1 will be targeted at the BMW1 and mini cars obviously. the so called killer application for that car would be a new interpretation of the quattro drive train. no other car in the segment will be offered with all wheel drive. once again Audi will set the pace and upset the competition.

 

besides the A1.......the worldwide audi enthusiats are waiting for the R3 or similar compact fun roadster to emerge from audi.
