Help with web cam

i will be posted overseas, hence need to learn how to set up web cam...

anyone care to share their experience on how to setup, what to buy, which software etc? thanks a lot!

just buy a webcam & the instruction is there.... almost foolproof :)

 

I always use webcam together with MSN/Yahoo/Skype, when Im away for business trip to communicate with my family :)

Do we need to buy 2 set of the web cam? is it usually sold individually, or a set of 2?

if u wanna talk and see the other party

make sure the other party has a webcam

doesnt need to be of same brand..

 

of cse it will be sold individually.

 

set up and install is easy.

as long as u have usb, plug in, install the cd rom and u are on ur way.

 

make sure ur webcam u buying comes with integrated mics

if nt u prob have to get those external headpiece with those mics.

 

i'm using logitech - not bad

if using laptop, may not need a mic as most laptops nowadays come with build-in mics.

some integrated webcam can only be applicable for certain communication server (skype, msn etc) only.

i bought a cheap webcam @$18 dollars that comes with led light

so that it can brighten the person talking in front of the cam

 

i bought it at 'house of mouse' near beach road

 

do a google search for houseofmouse

i got the Logitech Quickcam Deluxe for notebook

 

however when i want to install the software through CD, it prompt me the message that "only Administrator" can do it....

 

keep getting stuck here. Can some Bro help out? thanks.

And one more thing....when i try to do a video call, there's no screen on the receiving party, except the message "Loading call"...then it gets cut off...what is the problem huh?

you are probably using an account that has no admin rights. it's telling you to log in as administrator. usually adminstrator login username is Administrator or Admin with either capital or small "A". Password, i can't help you.

the other day i was 'skype-ing' with my fren from aussie

i cant see her but can still talk

was becoz her webcam had problems

 

with regards to the admin thingy. it shouldnt happen.

go back to the place where u bought the webcam and ask the people there

if needed, bring ur laptop along.

 

logitech works perfectly fine on my PC, my frens whom i recommended to use oso had no prob.

 

hope u get it resolved soon.

Yup, Got the first problem resolved...now managed to get both parties working..

 

but there is still the Administrator problem when i tried to set up on the 2nd laptop (for my wife)..no problem with my lap top though... probably need to consult wife's IT experts
