Nusiance Calls

hey all,

 

Recently, my girlfriend's mobile have been bombarded by nuisance calls and text messages. The calls are usually unanswered as she does not answer calls that are unknown to her but for the text messages, it is about some grandma falling ill which she don't even know.

(checked with relatives and family, no grandma is ill)

 

In addition, the text message was not even addressed to her. It is addressed to a Julia.

 

I have picked up the call once when coincidentally, the caller called when I was with her. So I replied that there is no such person as 'Julia'.

 

Subsequently, there will be many different mobile phone numbers that will be calling her. As she is always flying, calls made to her phone can be very costly.

 

Lastly, she has sent text messages to the callers telling them there is no such person. However, the calls did not subside. Last check was 7 calls in 2 hours.

 

Just wondering if anyone else is facing such an odd situation? Because if it's a scam wanting money, don't quite understand how they can extort money from her since she don't even know who 'Grandma' is...
