Mitch Neutral Newbie May 19, 2002 Share May 19, 2002 Noticed the heat is REALLY 'whitening' my rubber door trims (seals). I tried using 3m plastic cleaner and conditioner, but it won't last more than 1 month. Can anyone share their method of condition and blackening and hopefully no need to apply it so often? ↡ Advertisement
Turbobrick Neutral Newbie May 19, 2002 Share May 19, 2002 Try wiping the trim with a little peanut butter (yes I'm not kidding) then wash with diluted car shampoo solution. The vege oil in the peanut butter will clean and condition the rubber trim, after washing top off by applying a rubber conditioner.
Mitch Neutral Newbie May 22, 2002 Author Share May 22, 2002 No peanut butter at home only have marmalade and berries jams 'leh'. What rubber conditioner to use? Don't tell me can use hair conditioner?... kekekekeke
Turbobrick Neutral Newbie May 22, 2002 Share May 22, 2002 As far as I know only peanut butter is useful on black rubber and plastic trim. After that use a rubber condition such as Vinylex or 3M Vinyl cleaner/restorer.
Mitch Neutral Newbie May 22, 2002 Author Share May 22, 2002 (edited) Thanks for your tip. Must be extra careful to clean off after applying the butter. BTW, the green label (middle) is the product I am using to clean plastics. Can I use this condition the door trims?
