Msimax Neutral Newbie January 22, 2008 Share January 22, 2008 Both being similarly priced w a range of light weight rims. Former being used in overseas track events while latter has e some of e more tempting designs. Without a doubt these light cast aluminiums can survive our local road conditions. Seeking feedbacks on how lasting they r when up North? ↡ Advertisement
Terenc3 1st Gear January 23, 2008 Share January 23, 2008 kyowa i think is on the stornger side.. at leats for me, i got a kyowa kr205 17".. I went thru a really gigantic pot hole which actually caused part of my bumper scratched, roughly 110km/h.. my kr205 survived it.. Haha.. Plus its a 7.4kg rim.. So, not the lightest, but quite good enough.. at least to withstand such a pot hole.. haha..
Boyboy 1st Gear January 23, 2008 Share January 23, 2008 using kyowa and been up north many times, including mild off-road in my getz btw, i'm on coilovers and this puts more stress on every component, including the rims. went up to 170+ at times with no issue. i'd worry about other components such as tyres
Protege 1st Gear January 23, 2008 Share January 23, 2008 Am on Kyowa for my current ride and my previous ride. I have to say they are consider one of the lightest among the replica rims esp if you choose those with little and thin spokes. I am very happy with them and I travel up north very often. Have been on very bad roads and potholes without issues. Comments from the Kyowa importer in Singapore is that Kyowa has one of the most advance mfg technology among the Taiwanese rims since their factory is newer compared to others. Just my 2 cents comments.
Sickscientist Clutched January 23, 2008 Share January 23, 2008 Both are replicas of the real deal.. I am using Kyowa on my car... Quite light(6.7kg) and strong...

Wreckwrx 1st Gear January 23, 2008 Share January 23, 2008 I am currently on my second set of ROTAS mainly because my first set cracked.... Ok lah, to be more accurate, only one rim out of four initial ones cracked. So I had it replaced and the beauty of it was that the shop allowed me to just buy one rim from them although my initial set was not from them (my initial set were pre-owned rims). I then went on the net to do some further research and I came across some complaints about the durability of Rotas during track events in the USA..... But it seems that were instances of rims cracking for even the more reputable brands during such events so it is not limited to Rotas only. In any case, I did not have any more complaints with my Rotas since.....
