Hi,

 

anyone on hubstation? is it good and reliable?

 

I getting very tempted to get this for new home.

 

Now starhub have roadshows and hubstation is going for $197.

 

i have seen the recording demo and can even sent SMS to starhub mobile users!!

 

its quite impressive!!

i m using it, my first hubstation set K.O in just 2 days... they replace the whole box for me FREE, now the set is working fine after nearing 6months

So far 6 mths of usage, my hubstation HDD crash once, all recordings gone, hv to do reformat of HDD. My friend's hubstatation HDD crash more than 5 times already in less than 1 year usage.

 

Other than that, I enjoy the free internet usage.

u got to look out in newspaper for their advert.

 

i did went for the Plaza Sing roadshow last weekend, but the queue was damm too long..... got to wait 2-3 hours just for them to come to you.....

 

i told myself, next roadshow, i will go there in the morning when they are just opening.

how's the free internet speed?

Internet speed good enough for me. Was using maxonline 8mbps before this, dont feel any difference.

mine set couldnt boot up.. just nice warrenty just over..

 

went down to repair.. they did it for free claiming alot of ppl having this problem

I love it..but so far used it for recording tv shows/movies...

 

I have not tried it for internet & telephone calls, will try it when i get my own place.

Can tell us what are the special features of the Hubstation? Like what is so good about it.

 

1) Can record 2 programs at the same time slot?

2) Can record while watching another channel?

3) Can receive free-to-air HD5?

 

And such.....

I would say the ease of recording.

 

Can view the day's tv programs (or up to 2 days in advance) on screen & select the show u want to record. Can record 1 show at a time while watching other channel. Playback just as easy.

 

No need to refer to newspaper & check tv listing, no need to enter recording start time & end time, no need any recording media such as tapes or discs.

 

Other than that, save $$$ on the free internet access.

The downside - reliabilty

 

HDD may crash & your favorite shows u intend to keep will be gone.

Yah, me thinking to get it bc:

 

1) Replace my starhub setup box which cost $4 a month and further more it is a recycle set, kind of old and lousy

2) Get the free internet acceess, which cost about $30 using Singtel boradband

3) Record movie whenever I am not free to watch.

 

But hor, reliablility is really a problem.
