Meadelx200 1st Gear June 4, 2008 Share June 4, 2008 (edited) I'm currently doing a 48,000 km servicing in Borneo for my Picnic and seem like my stock tyres (Michelin MXV8) are reaching the end mark. Borneo is selling for around S$900 per set and they say their is New; i.e recent 2008 YOM. Is this a good buy ? What is the acceptable Year of Manufacture ? 12 mth/18 mth ? Thought of looking around for a quieter tyre but about similar performance as the above. Any advise ? Thanks. Octopus 3rd Gear June 4, 2008 Share June 4, 2008 I feel that is too expensive. As a guide, I did saw Stamford Tyre or Autobacs selling Rim + Tyre set of 16" at alightly above $1k. So if for tyre alone costs $900, that is expensive.
Boyboy 1st Gear June 4, 2008 Share June 4, 2008 try hankook. PM robertoon i just changed a set of 16" tyre for my dad's camry. 215/60R16. the price was less than $600 for 4 tyres. tyre is hankook optimo k415 his previous tyres were michelin vivacy. camry stock tyres . they are avg performers but very hard wearing. lasted 70k before wearing to the threadwear indicator. then i decided it's time to change. even then, my dad claimed that the tyres were still good to go but i decided that 70k is quite enuff liao.. Meadelx200 1st Gear June 4, 2008 Author Share June 4, 2008 Just confirmed Borneo price at S$970 for the MXV8 205/60R/16. Check with other authorised dealers price around S$810 - S$850. Probably spends another week to look at other options within this price range.
Ernielum Neutral Newbie June 4, 2008 Share June 4, 2008 U can try Chuan Lee Hin, they quoted me 215/45/R17 for 170bucks. From U.S. 16" should be cheaper.

Meadelx200 1st Gear June 7, 2008 Author Share June 7, 2008 Got a quote for Michelin Pilot Preceda at about S$185 each. Anyone got any idea the performance of the MXV8 vs the Pilot Preceda. Was told it is about the same. What should be an acceptable Year of Manufacture vs actual installation & use ? ↡ Advertisement
