Ldawn88 2nd Gear July 16, 2008 Share July 16, 2008 Yup. that's one of the thing with sunny I observed, after 3.5 years of ownership. the difference in FCs can be quite big...like looking at stocks can go up in one moment and very down on the next. My sunny is 22 mths old in stock condition and over 62,000 km, my average FC is 12 km/l. The worst I had was 10.47 and the best was 13.6 km/l. My mileage is based on actual recording of mileage and fuel from day one. On NSH, I managed 14+. ↡ Advertisement

Dumb 4th Gear July 16, 2008 Share July 16, 2008 good for you. for sunny to achieve that, you must be very lighted footed. It is well known that sunny drinks petrol like no tomorrow. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I average 12+km /l Best was I think 13.7km/l Car is now 2 years old -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Not need to be light footed to achieve more than 10 km/l. My lowest was 10.47. During brake in period I even took the car to 160+ km/h.
Keithpapa Neutral Newbie July 16, 2008 Author Share July 16, 2008 Ex Sunny Owner. There had been much talks about the mystery FC of Sunny to date. a. Some claim 10 km/l. b. Some claim 7km/l or below. c. Some claim 13km/l. Honestly I do not believe item c above, if some sunny owners can do that, good for them, but deep in my heart, I know it is virtually impossible even travelling on NS Highway. a and b are entirely possible. Right foot and tyre pressure are the 2 keys to either a or b. Not sure how sunny is engineered, but it is dammed generous in dispatching petrol to the engine, even on gentle reving. So the harder one revs, the more than desired amt of petrol goes to that engine. So that hawker uncle must check his right foot... or he changed to a bigger than recommended 15" tyres and do not know the proper tyre pressure. If stick to 15", the tyre pressures are alredy stated in the manaul or the driver's side. thot that 13km/l when travelling NS H is easily achieveable. Even the bro's M6 yield 12 km/l in NSH. not a figure to shout anout but respectable. I like your word of " damned generous in dispatching petrol"

Ldawn88 2nd Gear July 17, 2008 Share July 17, 2008 15km/l is good for allion... but I also know of many who hv done better. Cos I used the same driving patterns with my prev Sunny on Allion. While I achieved only 12km/l on average during my 3.5 years of sunny ownership, I can achieve 15km/l on Allion. Picking up with Allion is good albeit 1.5l. comparable to my bigger cc MarkX. 15 km/l is good. comparablle and slighly better thnn my ex-vios. FC can go up and down consistently leh... --------------------------------------------------------- If you mean FC can go up and down for no reason, I agree coz in these 22 mths I also noticed that the fuel needle is fooling around. Sometimes at 3/4 mark only about than 80 km and some 120 km, not that I drive differently.
Ginkgobaby Neutral Newbie July 17, 2008 Share July 17, 2008 Hi guys, Sry to borrow this thread.... i haven't got enuf power to start a new thread.... Recently i have bidded a sunny MT from an online auction and won it. Less than 2 yrs at a price of S$28500. However, my wife doesn't like it. In the end, i might have to pay a $500 penalty for not getting the car. If anyone of you happen to wanna take advantage of this extremely low price, please pm me so that you can take over me as the owner. Thanks. Ldawn88 2nd Gear July 17, 2008 Share July 17, 2008 That is 1 thing I cannot figure out too... same driving pattern and same route everyday... at 3/4 mark, most of the times I can get around 100km; whilst at times I can also get only 80km... Again, the same driving patterns and routes most of the times, my mileage can be anything from 400km to 480km when the petrol light turns on. If you mean FC can go up and down for no reason, I agree coz in these 22 mths I also noticed that the fuel needle is fooling around. Spidercool 1st Gear July 27, 2008 Share July 27, 2008 pls do note that is not the route pattern needs to put into consideration, the outside temperature do play a part too. The cooler the air (raining days) the better the compressor efficiency = better power, thus the FC always will change.
Holymonk Neutral Newbie July 29, 2008 Share July 29, 2008 For me as a sunny auto May 05 driver driving for 3 years pls, i still mange to clock 11 plus - 12 plus km/l. *Keep your air con temp at 25 degree should be sufficient. *Maintain your tyres air pressure, at times i pump all 220 - 230. *I remove my spare tyre from the boot and anything i do not require. *Maintain servicing period *Do not speed up unless got urgent matters to attend. *Don't every time apply hard brake or sudden brake, slowly apply brake when reaching traffic light. *Don't idle with your engine on *On your engine and move off slowly rather than waiting for the engine to heat up *Of course be a light footed, dont anytime, anyhow also ramp your accerator. All the while i pump shell 95....except pumping petronas/esso/caltex at JB occasionally.
