Itsec 2nd Gear April 25, 2012 Share April 25, 2012 Sorry to hijack this thread but i am also considering between lancer ex 2.0 and civic 2.0. Read thru this thread but cant really get a better idea of each's pros and cons. Any drivers can give any feedback between this 2 car. Any point will help regardless of fc, power, corner, stability, engine, etc etc. Very appreciate for any help. Thanks driven ex2.0 and ceebee 1.8L before... fc (dunno) shall be similar..i believe 1 or 2 km/l wont killl you... in terms of power.. ceebee is winner... let's talk about start/stop local traffic... in NSHW, bigger cc wins stability-> both have good suspension but EX's suspension is soft and i dont like it... engine -> not sure about ex 2.0, ceebee 2.0 is tunable... the threads are in ceebee forum... interior -> i prefer ex GT seat...red colour very nice and comfy, nice dashboard, it seem to me EX is spacious. ceebee is 'lower', seat cushion is 'harder', worse than my City's. i'm a honda fan and i will take ceebee anytime... ↡ Advertisement

Leeke1 2nd Gear April 25, 2012 Share April 25, 2012 dont think so... auto trans got transmission lost of 20%...so i guess 1.8Mt might be better in term of power. but of coz high end FD2A will win by a bit....

If you dont mind MT, get the 2.0MT!

Leeke1 2nd Gear April 26, 2012 Share April 26, 2012 both 1.8/2.0 civic do not have real vtec ( only at the exhaust with low compression ratio) only type R got real vtec (both exhaust and intake with high compression ratio)
Lucaswh 1st Gear April 26, 2012 Share April 26, 2012 If you getting 2 liter normal civic, rather you get an Auto. 2.0M is like Type R but not Type R? It's a little weird for me.

Itsec 2nd Gear April 26, 2012 Share April 26, 2012 thanks for ur info friend. me too like the exterior and the spacious feeling of lancer ex. but i still prefer honda's engine with vtec of coz. :) sorry but can i ask if auto transmission has vtec? bcoz i know abt manual how to open vtec but for auto transmission i got no idea if u search the vtec thread... u will get all the answers.... no "vtec" for all the current ones except the vtec city... not ivtec city... vtec is aged technology with unleash power different from ivtec.. ek4 -> 2 stage vtec (check out youtube) fd2r also considered 2 stage (i'm not very sure how many stages but the fd2r forum can answer u) however fd2r have 12/16v with high cam and compression... where my little pony vtec city is also 12/16v but no wild cam/ high compression... i floor a 1.8l or a GE6 ivtec and the 'feel' is different from my city and fd2r.. ivtec power delivery very linear.. maybe close to vvti but vtec power deliver not linear.. just like sleeping horse... only u wack throttle, the engine sound change and become very loud...the moment i throttle and the vtec open.. my wife will grab door handle or ask me to slow down..or colleague will turn silent but the fact is i'm not fast... power delivery is different... that's why many said how would you utilise high rpm all the time and why some mentioned type r has good FC... however, this does not mean ivtec lousier than vtec... it's only the power delivery is different hope it clear your some of your doubts

I agree. I mean I will feel weird if I choose to get a FD2 manual. Like just a step below the top of the ladder. If one gets FD2M it's definitely for performance, but then I will question myself day in day out why I don't top up more get a FD2R since I am ok with gear shifting in the first place. ↡ Advertisement
