Amp overheating?

[shocked] The gain level for the rear is completely so wrong. You just need to turn your HU volume up a little bit and your amp will be putting out its rated power. Up your HU volume a bit more and the amp will be pushing out its max power! Well whoever set that gain level must be [hur] Btw, your panasonic HU has 5V RCA outputs. Both gain levers on your amp should be pointing to at most 11 o'clock.

As Sarong1 suggested, the best way forward now is to check the inside of the amp to determine if any part is burnt.

I think there is no need to use Bass Boost. It's way too enhanced. Bring both the knob down to 0dB. Bring the gain on the front and rear down as well. Disconnect your RCA, power and remote cables and hook them up again after a while. Hopefully by this way, the protection can be reset. Protection will kick in when a) the amp is operating way too hot, at about 70 to 80 deg celcius, the amp should cut off and b) when input voltage is way too much for amp to handle. This feature will protect your speakers from roasting. Keep us updated.

i just went to the shop, the guy say wierd problem and suggested to change the amp. he ask me topup another 100 and get a 400w soundstream de.. he say sure no problem.. if got problem means my speaker or sub got problem de..

previously was connected mono mode.. now he change to stereo mode.. thats what he told me.. but just now drive, still same lei.. just that it takes a longer time to go into protection mode..

i tried if the gain levels for both are at 12o'clock, the bass doesnt have power.. unless i turn the front gain to 9 o'clock position.. and really turn up the volume..

Best is change another of the same amp and see how it performs this time round. Make sure the gain levers on the amp is set to 9 or at most 10 o'clock for the front and 10 or 11 o'clock for the rear. Then see if the amp overheats and shutsdown again. IMO, no point spending another 100 bucks, its a shop tactic.

As for the bass not enough, reason: the system output is that much and that is how much it will provide. If you want more bass, then get a bigger sub (400 or 600W RMS or even 1000W RMS) 12" passive sub, build a box and get a monoblock amp to pump the sub @2ohms or @1ohm if you really garang.

Gain levers is NOT volume knob. It is there to match your system components so that overall the rated SPL can be achieved.

my 2 6.5' speakers are blaupunkt.. the model i'm not sure.. but its 1 way de.. like a mini sub lo.. using for about 3-4mths liao.. and have 2 tweeters.. i think dun have warranty ba.. cos installer just install and thats all.. nv give me anything else.. dun top up another 100 cos worried they just cheating me into buying the more expensive one so they can earn.. advisable to just top up and get the soundstream's 400w de? but current one is 850w lei.. unless its overstated ba..
