Bump stops are part of the suspension system. It prevents over compression of your springs.

Thanks Forexter for the reply..... so I guessed it should works almost the same as spring stiffener.
Timmz Neutral Newbie March 19, 2009 Share March 19, 2009 spring stiffeners prevent springs from compressing naturally to achieve a slightly higher total compress height. the 'curl' of some springs have larger/smaller diameter coz the spring rate is differnet, the stiffiner spoils that 'balance' somewhat bumb stop is more to protect the shock absorbers from fully compress, ie the inner rod totally sinks into the larger tube and have metal to metal contact. given that most times total spring compression does not equal the shocks fully compressed.... Forexter 2nd Gear March 21, 2009 Share March 21, 2009 Just as Bro Timmz pointed out. They are different. Stiffeners makes the spring more difficult to compress. Bumpstops prevent over compression which will damage your springs permanently.
