Actually this ERP policy is very simple. This policy is implemented by the PAP government. If you dont like it, just vote against the PAP government to show your displeasure. You may think it may not work, but it is better than to come here complain about it and not do anything about it.

some of us here have voted for the opposition but in the end that pap still win. what can we do about it?

Turbocharged

Well, ideally, we are told ERP is designed for control of traffic. Not necessary a bad idea as too many cars otr. However, think a little further you might ask -> Why allow car population to grow in the 1st place? aha! Why are no. of cars brought off the rd are smaller than the quota?

the legalisation of 10 yr loan from previously 7yr max is another interesting point. Reason? To perhaps allow financial-idiots (or passionate car enthuiast) whom take home say, 1.6k have the chance to buy a car, hw abt tat. Result is more cars and more potential ..ahem.. money.

aha! another revelation it seems? but if u think even further as some bro mention, why charge only $1-2? The probable reason is it hurts, but we'll go thru the gantry anyway if we have to. $1-2 WONT STOP US. IF, when we got used to $1-2 somehow, than its time for more gantry and/or $1.75-3.50 per entry, and on.

Seriously, if traffic control is the PRIMARY intent in the 1st place, just charge $10 per gantry during peak hour and see how many people drives through them.

The key is not cost deterence, but bearable cost. We may still complain, but seriously, is $1-2 truely genuinely impossible to fork out? We can, but we wouldnt want to. Its an intelligent psychological double prong implementation. 1.) Consistant source of...err.. ahem..funds to build more infrastructure & 2.) Acceptance by the mass.

Of coz being a monopoly helps [:)]

it was mentioned before in parliament that the govt is allowing more people to own car but in order to curb the traffic control they have to implement such controls. owning car is the wish of everyone in singapore and the govt is going towards this. to balance up u pay more if u use more
