Sony changer suddenly wont load

Hi guys. Hv a sony explod 10 cd changer v old model. Yesterday was driving & listening to cd when suddenly went over bump rather hard & after that the cd stop playing. I thought juz off on the hu or eject then reload the cd magazine can already but it totally cant load the cd. hv tried diff cds in diff slots always will show load for long time then time out. Dont want to chg or buy new changer as car scrapping in 2 yrs. Any ideas. Can repair or any resetting of changer can b done? I tink must b the vibe fr the bump?

I personally think it is not worth to repair. Was told by several shops that CD Changers rarely last more than 5 years. 2nd hand changers can be available for $50 or less. I just sold one set of HU plus changer for $60 only.

 

If you can just survive with radio maybe it's a better option.

2 possibilites (the audio shop should be able to troubleshoot for you):

 

1. Changer itself is faulty - replacing this alone will do the trick. But you can only find 2nd hand ones nowadays. Should cost less than $100 incl labour.

 

2. CD Changer Control of the Head Unit is faulty (altho other functions like radio and cassette player are ok)

-in this case, replacing a CD Changer will not work.

-you'll have to change the entire HU

 

This happened to me last year.

 

In the end, I changed to a single disc 1-DIN pioneer HU. Cost $240 then.
