Approved Exhaust Query

Hi all,

 

If an exhaust is installed and approved on Car A already, if a new buyer buys over Car A (with the exhaust) as a used car, does the buyer needs to do some LTA transfer/inspection again with the exhaust?

Or the approved exhaust (and its documentation) follows the car, not whoever who owns it, which means there is nothing to apply whatsoever (unlike someone who buys over the approved exhaust only, and has to apply to transfer /inspect again)?

Yes, the highlighted part is true. The exhaust with it's proper documentation for that particular vehicle will be applicable no matter who the owner is. Just make sure the documents in mention are Certified True and not some mish-mash put together by the workshop/previous owner...

eg: If Car A is 'SFA1111A' and the new owner buys over the car with the exhaust, he/she does not need to do anything.

To complicate the scenario, what if the new buyer does not intend to keep (or the seller wants to keep) the number SFA1111A, that means the car will end up a new number say 'SFZ9999Z'.

 

Does that means the LTA exhaust cert is now invalid, and have to go for inspection once more (under SFZ9999Z)?

you do not need to do anything as long as you have the documentation. even if you do number retention/transfer, LTA will have records. you just need to flash the documents when stopped

If Car A still with the exhaust (LTA approved) not need for inspection, even you are the new owner.

If Car A exhaust was changed back to ex-stock by the existing owner, also not need for inspection.

But if you change the ex-stock exhaust on Car A as the legal owner, you must go for inspection with LTA approval types..

I need to sent my car for inspection.

 

My car is equiped with APEXI exhaust

 

The previous owner has the cert and the cert indicate the car plate no: 1122, when i bought the car, i was given a new car plate no: 8899, as the previous owner want to retain the car plate no:

 

Unfotunately, i lost the cert. and need to go for inspection coming tuesday

 

Can any kind soul advise me what i should do?

You need a letter from then vendor that sold the exhaust stating that the exhaust is suitable for your ride and meets the emission standards.

 

Usually the the letter will cost you $60 to $100.

 

2009 letter price:

Garage R -> $80

Fong Kim -> $60

 

BTW, The approved exhaust is supposed to come with original cert, not just a copied one. I think it's very likely you will fail the inspection if you only have a copy of the cert.

May o who is the distribution for apexi exhaust? St powered says they no longer help to certify the exhaust for LTA inspection.
