Life after Jeff's Werkstat?

Background

Have a pearl white 07 Civic.

Wash frequency: weekly (20%), fortnightly (50%), once per 3 weeks (30%), depends on my laziness level and quantity of events during weekend. Each wash 2-3 hrs.

Home & Work carpark is open air. Can see/feel dust after just 1 day. Don't do quick detail.

Use Werkstat Prime (AIO) and Acrylic Jett Trigger for the past year. It is good, should be better than Klasse, but it leaves a layer of 'gray' that is very hard to get rid of after 2 weeks or more.

After 2 weeks, manual carwash at petrol station cannot remove (china uncle very apologetic), after 3 weeks, mama lemon cannot remove. Only two ways I know can remove: claybar and Werkstat AIO. If use the latter, very siong, need to rub a lot.

Now that both bottles are near empty, I am ready to move on.

Bros (MD esp), please advise. I know I am not 100% disciplined in washing, but I feel I shouldn't be punished with that very-difficult-to-get-rid layer that sets in after more than a week.

I don't need very shiny. I would rate water beading and paint protection as more desirable than shine.

"Shi Xiong" I looked at your registration date i sweat...hehe..Kidding..

Anyway Bro Ilmw..Jeff is also a good product.. i also know the pain of owning a white and black car..But we have to agreed both are the best once properly detail..

I have a suggestion or maybe a small testing you can do..I am not well versed in Jeff but having using Klasse before..i belive both are quite similar in some ways..

I believe you apply trigger each time after AIO..How about just applying AIO alone??...Give this method a try..If this works..My previous test should be right..

For my duragloss there is only one product that I would recommend for white that will be Marine Polish and I know some uses it standalone..3 weeks to 4 weeks not an issue..As for white..I would say is quite unavoidable not to use AIO..Raod film..tars are easily seen on white..u really need some arm power once a while..

Nice car u have bro!

Hmm, coming from the Duragloss POV, i think you should just grab the Marine range from Duragloss. (:

Simple. Grab the shampoo, DG 501 Polish and the DG 521 detail spray and walah. (: Or you can just shampoo the car weekly and it can induce the water repel thing that you want.

Depending on the frequency, and yo should NOT follow my way cause I am just too crazy. I detail the car EVERY week. So you can't use me as a benchmark.

But on an average, one layer of 501 on the car, lasts for i think 3 months? This question has to be answered by MD himself. (:

I wont recommend to push it to 3 months for an AIO...

IMHO: I dont think any AIO standalone could last for 3 months, It depend the weather, parking area, maintain etc ... if could last for 1month for spore or indonesia, I would say its very good AIO then... Its better apply sealant after aio ... its easy apply, wipe on wipe off ... i think could last longer than aio standalone ... weekly maintain, just using Aquawax afterwash ... Your car will "cling" then

Do you happen to park your car under trees most of the time? And does your home or work place happen to be near industrial area or in the west region?

Thanks all for your suggestions.

Home open-air carpark is still ok, 4 directions surrounded by flats. Work open-air carpark is 100m away from paya lebar mrt where they're constructing the circle line(?) so it is very dusty. i use to prefer to park under trees, but birds advise me not to. Now, my preference is to park away from pedestrians, and away from roads where dust will blow from.

bec AIO is quite siong, i bought a battery operated orbiter. it helps 70%, but rest 30% i still need to do it by hand. bec of this labor, i switch from AIO whole car to AIO 50% of car. (roof is most siong). when i've time, i will put sealant on places i AIO. if not, i AIO only and no sealant.

question: is 501 considered an AIO?

I don't always apply trigger (sealant) after AIO. Especially lately, I apply AIO only. This is bec (a) already very shack after AIO, and (b) AIO alone, car already feels very slick/wax-feel, water beads, so i feel AIO alone is good enuf.

So taking all suggestions into consideration. The routine for me is:

Minor wash (once every week to once every 3 weeks):

  1. Wash ("meguiars nxt car wash" cos it is "cheapest" per volume (used to use 3m carwash before it went up in price))
  2. Dry ("3m chamois drying cloth/sponge")
  3. DG 521 QD

Major wash (once every 4 weeks or when minor wash doesn't cut it):

  1. Wash ("meguiars nxt car wash" cos it is "cheapest" per volume)
  2. Dry ("3m chamois drying cloth/sponge")
  3. DG 501

Bros, please vet. If above, is there a risk that i use 501 too often?

hihi, disclaimer first: i'm just a kaypo amateur, not expert like MD [wave]

i've got a friend who parks outdoor everyday at work though MSCP at home and i found tat her car gets "pimples" very easily, black/gray small spots, probably fr the outdoor environment. And we had to clay away these spots bef applying my autoglym SRP (i assume AIO).

maybe u could try claying bef applying ur AIO? i might be abit kiasu but i will still wanna apply one more layer of wax/sealant, for double protection! [laugh]

Hi bro Ilmw, from your description it looks like your car will get dusty quite easily especially at your work place. Since your car is white so it will be easier to get those 'gray' stain which usually can only be removed by AIO product. However, with regular application of wax or sealant it does help to make washing easier.

There is one tip that I can share with you. If you are still using JW Trigger, after you have applied your AIO to the whole car, instead of buffing off the residue with a MF towel directly, you can spray some Trigger onto your MF towel and wipe off the residue with it. This way you can wipe off the residue and apply a layer of sealant onto the paint surface at the same time. This method has worked very well for me. Hope this helps [;)]
