wow , that very expensive ! if i willing to pay 400 a months , which car can i afford in sgcarmart ?

Friend... did you do you own research and calculation before even having the intension to get a ride?? :excl:

Car ownership is not child's play leh...

definately not as easy as

a) post a topic which screams I want a rex!!

b) ask for comments

c) purchase the car...

Just dun wanna see you fall into heavy debts...

One thing for sure, $400 will not even be enough for your petrol consumption if you intend to get that Rex!!

You gotta consider these factors

1) $400 (just running cost or inclusive of installments) - unless like me, you intend to pay full cash for your car...

2) Does your work requires you to drive?? Is so, any additional allowances

3) Choice of car... Rex because you can practically afford it?? or simply because you think its cool and the 40K price tag looks cheap (for a 5 year old rex..) - You should have realised by now, that the running cost of a Rex is not a laughing matter

4) Do you need a car in the 1st place?? Or is it just a want... -> if there's a need but you have a budget constraint, would suggest you open your perspective and consider a van or pickup as well...

Wrx_modi, if you want cheap thrill, then go for it.

But just a cautious reminder that,

1) Subaru cars usually with much higher insurance premium.

2) This car seemed to change many owners.

3) FC is a killer and not really that important to go "that" fast in Singapore road.

4) The turbo and stuffs maintenance are no joke.

Just my two cents worth.

Take care and happy car shopping.~

$400 is just only the insurance , around $600-$700 monthly

Any downpayment?? or full loan??

Even 1K is barely enough for you if you consider running costs, insurance, installments, misc, etc etc....

With your budget, dun be too ambitious, be down to earth and get a ride you can practically afford -_-

The rex insurance really so high (5k) meh ? can't find cheaper alternative ???

my 2 door car also 80% of insurance company qoute abt 5k before NCD but those are company that are not interested to insure your car, if you ask around there are bound to be few company that will charge about 3k before NCD.

I last check with MI (2 weeks back), their insurance for rex is also around 3k before NCD (above 30 yr old).

i assume FC at 7-8km/l can get bah ? if stock ?

I'm assuming TS has 0% NCD.. Insurance quotes stems from driving exp too... 3K from MI is for drivers 30 and above... prolly with a long driving exp record.. but i'm surprised that with 0% NCD the quote is around 3K?? high or low 3K?? you sure??

Anyway TS's thread a little ambiguous la.. Did not paint a proper representation of his situation...

Those Indian and China insurers refused to insure my car too... [mad]

ok, i might be wrong... I was quoted abt 1.5k with 50% NCD... so assume its 3k without NCD...

I dun recall seeing 5k for 0 NCD when i look at the chart....

if i dont get a rex , what else car can i get from sgcarmart ? opc car ? or normal car ?

You have to ask yourself how much you can afford per month..... and what's your initial outlay?? 0% downpayment?? or $X downpayment??

Taking $700 per month (I'm assuming from your post) and throwing in all the overheads, annual payments (amortised to a monthly sum), plus all the misc, I think you can gun for an OPC (if that suits your requirement), or a normal entry level car..

Why dun you consider a passenger veh?? Like a van or somethin?? much cheaper...

If its a "face" factor, you can own that rex too.... but you have to slave monthly to pay it off... end up, you might have a rex, but no money for the petrol, have a wallet, but no money for food.... you get the drift...

Of course, i'm just basing on the assumption that your threshold is $700 per month... for all we know, you have much more money to spare, which in that case, you pretty much will be able to evaluate which ride suits you most... [:)]

sorry to burst your bubble, but with your budget, pls dun go for a Subaru. . .

maybe a 2nd hand picanto is a better choice. . .

or like some bro highlighted, take a public. . .

save the moolah and go for a holiday every year. . .
