Wire insulation degraded .!

Have anyone experienced wiring harness' insulation got harden and peels off by itself within the engine bay.?

My TomYam ride coming to 6th years, stock condition within engine bay.

 

Location : Wirings above alternator area.

 

Is this normal for old ride or probably due to material's durability problem.?

 

Fearing that wirings may further damage, short circuit or caught fire..

 

Seeking further advise / recommendation..?

From the photo, the peeling is on the protective sleeve of the insulated wire. It is within allowable limits. As long the insulated wire itself is not exposed, there will be no risk of short circuit.

normal, wear and tear due to heat and moisture from engine bay.

just clean up and tie back up using black tape.

It's normal. Just use black tape to cover the wires.

like what others have mentioned, you can use some 3M electrical tape to tape them up. You can also use some small size conduits if you prefer not to have some sticky mess after some time.

Thanks for your kind advise...more relief now since it is normal wear n tear.!

Me managed to sourced 3M insulation tape (Stated Fume retarded, resist to 600V and 80 degree C).

In addtional, me got heat shrink jacket as well..!

Fristly, rap wirings with 3M insulation tape, rap it with heat shrink jacket (For normal electrical)

Cable tie them well.... make another final round with 3M.

Finally, insert wirings con tub, cable tie them; to so called shealth from the hot alternator.

 

Me has to remind myself to check above work monthly since, wirings con tube may not within hot and cold enviroment.

 

Do refers to my below ko yok works. Hee..!
