Speeddemon Neutral Newbie April 26, 2010 Share April 26, 2010 32 offset is abit too aggressive.....i think mine are 35 and they are already at the edge of the wheel arches.....32 offset would probably exceed the wheel arches.....but heck they would look bloody cool!!!! [laugh]
Fortress Clutched April 27, 2010 Share April 27, 2010 It will look really great. A gentle reminder on the warranty side of things, such offset will probably over stress the springs, CV joints and shaft. Had issues with my AD even with stock wheels. Kryskoko Neutral Newbie April 27, 2010 Author Share April 27, 2010 Your tyre is also at 245? Hmmm.... looks like can give it a shot!
Kryskoko Neutral Newbie April 27, 2010 Author Share April 27, 2010 Wow. Did not know a rim will affect so many parts in the car.. Are you able to enlighten me? Would probably help in my decision. Thanks
Fortress Clutched April 27, 2010 Share April 27, 2010 Rule of the thumb for up sizing of wheel is 1 size higher....ie...if you are using 195/60/R17, it is 205/55/R18...hope you got what I am saying. The issue here is that in Singapore, most of the AD actually up size the wheel already, so it is important that you find out the original size asa bench mark. As how wheel affects the the 3 points that I have highlighted earlier are due to, added stress, beside that, not knowing to many, changing the wheels size actually changes the turning radius and also the driveability, eg...taking a corner, over steer or under steer, again it is subjective to some, I like mine neutral. Cutting the corners according to the way I have turned the steering wheel. Other factors like added fuel consumption, bigger wheel cost more, thinner tyre is uncomfortable and reacts to potholes which damage the wheels. And also the wear and temperature of the tyres which determine the driving in our climate.... Hope it helps.
Kryskoko Neutral Newbie April 27, 2010 Author Share April 27, 2010 Thanks for the fast response! So, if I do a test fit at a tyre shop... will I be able to tell if the rims will rub the fender?
Fortress Clutched April 27, 2010 Share April 27, 2010 You are most welcome. For that I am not too sure about the fit, but when you know it, it will be too late as you would already paid for it. Suggest that you do some search on the net to find out the sizing issue.
Speeddemon Neutral Newbie April 27, 2010 Share April 27, 2010 Nah mine is at 225/45/R18....but once these tyres wear out then I'll definitely change to 245s
Speeddemon Neutral Newbie April 27, 2010 Share April 27, 2010 Agreed that aggressive rims may look cool.....but agent will definitely use it as an excuse to void warranty when issues relating to suspension and drive shafts crop up
Kryskoko Neutral Newbie April 27, 2010 Author Share April 27, 2010 Seems like all the stuff that I have done or wanna do to the car is not warranty friendly...
