En0203 2nd Gear March 17, 2011 Share March 17, 2011 Another good ROM for XT720 is THIS but it's heavily themed though. Try if you like it. ↡ Advertisement
Luckcent 4th Gear March 18, 2011 Author Share March 18, 2011 I came across that one but it seems too complicated to me and also I have no technical knowledge on softwares and so on. Otherwise the phone will be bricked. What I need is as long as it wont hang, good enough for me.
Luckcent 4th Gear March 18, 2011 Author Share March 18, 2011 Instructions can be found HERE Note that the radio volume doesn't work on the ROM so u must be prepared to lose the radio if you want to install custom ROM. I personally prefer version 1.1, as it's faster. There will be lag when u opens app from 1.1a to 1.3. The only downside with 1.1 is the radio volume problem (like all other version) and facebook doesn't sync with the contacts but I can live without those. u can try a few to see which one u like. If I convert it this way. Will it not hang ?
En0203 2nd Gear March 18, 2011 Share March 18, 2011 (edited) I am not sure why ur phone hangs all the time, hopefully its not hardware related. maybe u should try to reflash the original rom and see how first. if the problem persists, u may want to go Motorola to bang table to get a replacement. if you happen to stay in the west, I can help u to do it foc. I stay near jurong point. Edited March 18, 2011 by En0203

I stay near jurong point. It is not hardware related because I have send it back to Moto for a on/off switch replacement ( due to hang an d on/off too many times ). What Moto did was a factory reset and nothibg else. So it is back to what Effenstar's recommendations of some tweaking. Till now without a single game, it has not hang. Hope it stays this way. My question is, will there be a difference ( hang ) if I upgrade ( unoffically ) to 2.2 ?

If you are happy with 2.1 then it's better to stay there. 2.2 is still in development so there are bound to have more bugs. 2.1 from what i see is very stable though. I never had any problem with 2.1 last time (though I don't have any problem with 2.2 either). And by the way, I find singapore stock ROM more sluggish. I was on EU rom last time when I was on 2.1, it was slightly more snappier IMO.

Under normal usage, Froyo is quite a bit snappier. To be perfectly honest, excellent hardware and materials aside, I'm going to pass on Motorola when I upgrade at the end of next month as I feel their rollouts are focused on other areas first and asia as an afterthought. I'm thinking of that, but the width is a little worrying, so I'm also considering the optimus black. Not as highly speced as the SGS II, but a decent enough upgrade. 400mhz faster + double the ram + more phone memory for apps. I thought Moto is the only one with a locked bootloader? Won't be going for single core since all future phone will be dual core and future android will be optimized for dual core. If i were to go for single core phone i'll just take Nexus S since it's got vanilla android and always be the first one to get updates.

TIA [rolleyes] I've just upgraded my motorola milestone to froyo. It's very simple. Just download the software update from motorola website and plug in your phone and start the updating.
