similar to what bro Mllcg shared here?

Something like that

Except that I would have the ball of my foot on the brake while increasing the revs with the heel and then let out the clutch and release the brake when the timing is right. Only tried a couple of times for fun, would otherwise use handbrake unless I'm stopping upslope for just a split second.

Mine is diesel so the engine sound is not smooth at all, in fact it may well be unacceptable to many people used to the quietness of modern cars. But the fuel economy is really something and the hardiness and ease of maintenance is exceptional.

no need spark plugs just glow plugs.. and it sips diesel like champagn [thumbsup]

lol. speaking of upslope starts,

if i need to push start the car, what gear do i put the car in? neutral or gear 1?

Ideally gear 2. Has to be in gear, so neutral is out. As for gear 1 the jolt from the push start will be very harsh, and may cause harm to the people helping to push the car [laugh]

that's quite 'innovative', whereas the typical heel-toe has the ball on the throttle and the toes the brake pedal

i got a feeling your method gives more control, i will try it tomorrow morning [:)]

gear 1. Clutch in then when enough momentum half clutch and when car start already clutch in again then rev hard a few times then let engine run a while to recharge battery.

what i'll do is: put neutral gear, let the car roll downslops to gain some speed, then put into gear2, relase the clutch gently... [:)]

Sipping diesel like champaigne - Indeed that describes it well [thumbsup]

Not like some other cars I've tried which drink petrol like beer [laugh]

It would be even more fuel efficient except that due to HK's higher speed limits (and high number of slow drivers to overtake at the same time) I am seldom light footed with it [lipsrsealed]

HK main island's sloppy streets dont help also? or the low end torque of the diesel can take care of that?

Don't think auto cars can be push started. Maybe someone who knows better can enlighten.

btw, it seems no one in HK complains about road congestions, how their LTA solve such problems? or they do complain? Hope to learn how HK deals with tight space with high population moving about

110 for the highway leading back and forth to the airport. But many normal Japanese cars will travel much slower, about 80 or so, while most continental cars and some taxis will go at the limit or a bit higher. Usually I keep it at 120 to 130 myself because that highway is so long and straight and you can see for miles ahead, and traffic is almost always light.

Other highways usually 100, I usually maintain about 110 when road ahead is clear.
